im going to build a cheap computer for my parent and don't know what cheap case and psu to get.most of the stuff here is for mid-high end computer.

im thinking of getting them the spec below. any help would be great.

- GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
-Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe
-g.skill ddr2-800 2gb dual channel
-dont know psu
-don't know case
-basic hard drive

they are just going to use Microsoft office and surf the internet.

They don't need anything that powerful. I think a Celeron E1200 of Pentium E2160 should be perfect. The DS3L requires a discrete graphics card. The DS3L gets such good reviews because it's an excellent budget overclocking board ~ something that you don't need in this case. A motherboard with an integrated Nvidia 7050 chip would be cheaper and more ideal since it decodes HD video content. If the computer will be running XP, 2GB ram would be overkill for those purposes. 1GB should be more than enough. But since ram is so cheap nowadays, I suppose it's a good idea to think ahead. In terms of a PSU, you can get an Earthwatts 380 for $30AR from newegg. Quiet and very energy efficient. Fortron/Sparkle PSU's are also good budget choices as well. I would focus on something that runs quietly.

x2 on the E2xxx series and a similar power supply. I got this for a budget build for myself:

I would recommend going with this case and PSU combo:
Antec NSK4480 ATX Case With Antec Earthwatts 380W PSU - $70

The Earthwatts, as mentioned before, is energy efficient and is more than enough for your needs. The Antec case is small and kind of compact so it won't take up too much space.

And I concur with getting a mobo with onboard video and a lower CPU. The E2160 is a good choice for the CPU and this mobo is a decent choice:
MSI G33M-FI Intel G33 mATX Motherboard - $93

hmmmm. the E2160 sounds like a good deal. i hear you can OC it too. is there a motherboard that allow me to OC it with a on board video card?
