I'm a long time AMD user that's strongly considering moving to the intel platform. I'm currently on an AMD Phenon II X4 940, 4GB DDR2, not overclocked at all. The components that won't change: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD, Sparkle 550W PSU, case, DVD-RW and a Radeon 7850.
Here's the hardware I'm considering picking up. As far as pure computing power (for overall "home user" performance with occasional gaming), will I see a decent improvement? Or not enough to justify spending $500+?
Intel Core i5-4670K Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.4 GHZ 6 MB Cache - BX80646I54670K
MSI Computer Corp. Motherboard ATX DDR3 1333 LGA 1150 Motherboards Z87-G45 GAMING
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 Memory Kit for Core i3, i5, i7 and Platforms SDRAM CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2)
