Nec 20WMGX2 image persistence

I have seen numerous posts for the Nec 20WMGX2 and I just wanted to know if anyone else is having image persistence issues with this monitor. Basically, an image remains in the display's background after I minimize or close a window, and this will occur only after 15-30 minutes (not hours or days for typical "burn-in" effect), and it typically goes away after the same amount of time. I had to RMA two of these monitors now with Nec because the image persistence was too noticeable to ignore, and the possibility of the problem getting worse. Fortunately, the second monitor went directly to the engineers where they are going to look into this problem more thoroughly. Other than that, this monitor has a beautiful display.

If you do own this model, try using a solid color background (not too dark) and leave an application window open for 20-30 minutes, and then minimize it to see if it leaves an image in the background.

Two quick questions.

1. Do you by chance keep the monitor in an adbnormally warm room? Or could heat be getting trapped easily where ever you have it set up?

2. Are you in the US? and did they say which engineers it was going to?

Thanks

The ambient temp of the room runs about 18C (65F), so it's fairly cool. I was told the monitor was going to an engineering center in Itasca, IL (US). I also tried the monitor with different video cards and drivers, video cables, and even a different PC setup, but the problem remained. I've been custom building and working with PC's since 1990, and have owned many CRTs and a few LCDs (I am writing this while viewing an Nec LCD 1765) and have never had this problem before, but I do understand that plasma TV/monitors are prone to this problem.

Just received ***3rd*** 20WMGX2 monitor from Nec today. Well, no more image persistence, but Nec decided to give me one with a dead (hopefully stuck?) pixel. This is it for me with this new line of monitors from Nec. My advice, STAY AWAY from this monitor!

Cmobz -

your monitor has been running for 23 hours now with a high contrast black and white checkerboard on it and there is no signs of image retention what so ever. The engineers dont think you ever had image retention but may have confused it for something. The monitor will continue to run for another day or so to be sure but it does not look like there is any image persistance.

I'm going to order one now price is $500 (includes $50 rebate) and I'll see if it does it to me.

I just thought I'd revive this thread since I'm having the same problem.

I just received this monitor and the image persistence is there...mostly along the top edge.
I'm going to exchange it but I'm wondering how common this problem is and how good my chances of getting one of these monitors without problems is.

Thanks

There was a rebate but expired on 12/31/06. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago and love it.
