My DFI board in sig has a dying and getting frickin LOUD fan. I ordered a new replacement that I think will work. I just don't want to have to take apart my whole comp to put the new fan on.

Here's a question: Is it even necessary to have the fan running? Will my mobo die without that specific fan running? My case runs pretty cool and I have other intake and outflow fans on all the time. The video card sits directly above the mobo fan, which is my only real concern.

I changed temp thresholds for the NB in the BIOS to limit the noise to about half speed, but the fan will soon not work.

OK, my sig is gone. It's a LanParty NF4 SLI-D socket 939.

yea you should have a fan on it..there were alot of fan failures on that board and everyone used a certain one..you will have to remove the board to remove and install...not a big deal...that chipset ran hot as i remember cause i had one...check the dfi forums for the replacement..i believe jabtech had them for like 10 bucks or so...if you dont replace it you could damage the board so why take a chance...that was a killer o/clocking board and resale is still real good on those....

Yeah that's what I ordered. Evercool VC-RE Twinkling VGA Cooler from Jabtech.

Sucks I gotta take the whole thing apart and back together, but I'll deal with it :)

Happy turkey day to ya!

Thanks:D

The vc-re is what they always use to use back in the day. Its a good choice.

Many went with this fanless Zalman option.

It will install without removing the MB by cutting the heads of the origional fan and pushing the remaining stubs thru to the other side.
