Ok so I've been pulling my hair out lately trying to figure this out. I have a Gateway LX6810 that has a raid card in it. Now I have a 640gb drive that shows up in Mediashield as a *spanned* drive and whenever I hook another drive it puts itself into a *striped* drive. Now I've tried doing just about everything besides erasing that first drive because thats where all my stuff is even though I have it backed up. Is there anyway to get rid of raid all together and just let my drives play nicely with each other? Even removing the raid option in the bios isn't helping !

We're gonna need some clarification.

What RAID card? What drive? What is Mediashield?

The boot is a WDC WD6400aaks 640gb. The raid model is Nvidia nForce Raid controller and mediashield bios is what pops up right after the POST screen

SO if you have no RAID configured try turning off raid by having SATA as AHCI and see how that goes.

I searched on google for hours and didn't find that link -_-

THANK YOU I will mess with it one day when I'm off. I might just clone the drive and completely wipe everything and delete this *array* that just pops up
