The difference between onboard sound and Audigy 2 isn't even funny. That and onboard simply take up to many CPU cycles. I never use onboard. period.
I'm not sure what onboard audio you are comparing your Audigy to, but not all onboard audio is the same. Although I am not using my system for music creation, I have found that the audio that is integrated with the nForce2 chipset is exellent. And before you ask... I am running my sound through an Aiwa reciever/amp and then on to Celestion speakers. So yeah, I would be able to tell if the onboard sound was slouching.

As for taking up to many cpu cycles... I have yet to see it as an issue. Are you going to tell us that you refuse to use onboard lan connections too?

Recently with the advent of Intels CSA technology for the gigabit LAN, i have no problem using it. Before that, I never used anything onboard.

Im just very very picky of my hardware and how it runs. Maximum efficency and maximum speed, anything less is unacceptable.

To each his own, I guess...

We are all pretty picky about our hardware. However, I think most of the Shuttle owners here are very satisfied with their SFF systems.
