My SFF Build, pointers

I've been looking at some other SFF builds around here, and I've come up with this possible build but I'm not sure on on the typical power/cooling/space:

Case: Silverstone SG01-BF
PSU: Antec NeoPower 550W
Mobo: Asus P5E-VM HDMI
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad - Q9550
Memory: G.Skill 4GB x 2 (8GB total)
Video: EVGA GTX 280
HDD: Undecided -- maybe a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB, possibly a WD Raptor 300G -- depends on cooling/space, etc.
DVD-RW: Samsung 22x DVD Burner w/LightScribe

  • Will the GTX 280 can fit in the SG01-BF?

  • I'm air cooling this SFF, with no real plans of OCing, so if I'm going with a C2Q is the stock going to be good enough with this case setup?

  • Not sure about the onboard sound and if I'll have to go with a sound card at all, and if that's the case will I have room for it?

Any comments on this build, pointers, constructive flames etc would be much appreciated!

The stock cooler should be fine for a C2Q in any environment other than the sahara desert under direct sunlight. Your temps may be slightly warmer than you'd like... but unless you're running 24/7 at insane temps like 90-100C, you should be fine.

I know the current Q9550 stock cooler is smaller than the older 65nm quad coolers... you might could pick one of those up on the cheap as it would offer you slightly better performance at a minimal cost if you don't like higher temperatures.

Yes, even says it on SIlverstone's website.

Yes, but it might be worth it to shell out 30-40 to get an aftermarket lower profile cooler.

That depends on your motherboard. As long as it has a PCI slot on the bottom of the board with room for that dual slot video card, you'll be ok. However with 4 core you're fine using onboard sound.

I'd stick with the 500GB 7200.11 over the 300Raptor easily. You're better off with the extra cash towards something else in you're computer.

Also, get a modular PSU for the case. You could end up regretting not getting one because of space, air flow, and heat.
 
The Antec PSU I have listed above is a modular PSU AFAIK.

  • Any recommendations on a low-pro cooler that will fit in that particular case that works with the C2Q?

At $100, I cannot recommend that Antec Neopower PSU since there are significantly better quality modular PSUs for around that price like the Corsair 520HX and Silverstone ST60F, ST70F, or ST75F.

I had looked at the Scythe, but some people were disputing the support of the C2Q processors. I'm also not sure that something like the NT06-E supports the C2Q.

Also, after looking into the case more, is there a significant reason to go with a SUGO SG02-F over the SUGO SG01-F? The only reasons I could come up with:

  • 3.5" converter x 1
  • Lighter by 0.8 kg (lol)

However it also seems that the SG02-F has less USB ports (2 instead of 4).
 
Squash that, after doing more research I came across a very handy Sugo case thread here on the forums that explains the differences between the SG01/SG02/SG01-E.
 
Also,

Can any SG01-F owners comment on the GTX 280 fit in terms of how it affects the hard drive cage? It's confusing piecing all of these disparate comments together from other places, but I got the impression that the GTX 280 would somehow conflict (dropping it down to supporting only 10" cards with the cage in-place).

Any ideas?

Yes... a stock cooler. You said you weren't planning on overclocking.

yea but still he wants to keep it cool, i know my q6600 stock clock/stock hsf was way too hot in my v350 and thats a bigger case (and hotter cpu) but still, id always recommend a better cooler in a sff regardless of OCing.
