Okay so really it has been a long time since I have asked for help but this one is killing me.
I have a WHS that is in a Norco 4020 and it had an Antec 650 Earth Watt PSU in it and last week, after 6 months w/o issue, the PC died....
the power was still on to the hard drives and fans and motherboard lights but the it was not in a boot state. the power buttons were unresponsive and needed to have the plug pulled in order for it to turn off.
It would power on, but no boot, no diag lights nor boot sound. until the cmos was cleared.... then it would work..... I thought it was a bad PSU, well it was..... but after replacing the PSU and CPU I am still having issues.
Last week I added a new HDD (hot) with ACHI enabled. When it clicked into the drive backplane the PC shut off.....
Rebooted and all worked.... okay wierd.
Now today the PC was on..... but no OS, no Boot, no beep, no diag lights nothing.... cleared cmos rebooted and it worked.... for about 10 mins......
I cannot figure out what is causing this thing to be so unstable. no BSODs, just black screen. and then no rebooting until I clear cmos.
Things I have replaced:
PSU (working pull)
CPU (different model, working pull)
RAM (working pull)
Only things left....
motherboard, drives and wiring.
Specs are the following
CPU: e8400
Mobo: Foxconn ELA v2
PSU: Zalman 500w slient heatpipe PSU
Case: Norco 4020
Drives: 3 WD RE2 1TB, 2 WD 750gb Cavier 16mb, 1TB WD GP
(sorry for the long post.... just trying to clear my head of this....)
