Hi [H] and everyone.
I have a new idea im working on now.
I'm sure most have heard of Rocksmith by now. I use to play the guitar along time ago and got this game. Its kinda fun and im getting better at playing again. So i thought lets bring them closer together.I have been running the game on my i7 rig and a new Fender amp with a A/B-Y switch to get sound to both with great results. But with all the new wires over my room i thought it was time for a new build!
I though i would reupholster this old Marshall Lead 12 mini stack i have had in storage for over 15 years because my pit bull took out her frustrations on my speaker when i was at work. I did just start playing back then, and I'm sure i was annoying enough to warrant such a review.
The case is going to look like a Marshall MG lead 12 Amp piece. I'm going to make a replica box to add a ITX mobo M4A88T- Deluxe with a HD6670 gpu into it for my RockSmith game.
With a Marshall wallpaper to make it look like it belongs in the set when not playing the game.
I just got started on this and don't have much going yet except order receipts. So i have been mapping out my plans and getting my part list filled.
Found this for my display! 12.1" Digital TFT AUO B121EW03 LCD Screen Panel+DVI Controller Board 1280x800

Heres a few pics for a better idea of what the final build should look like.

I'd be pretty leary of putting a PC that close to a large unsheilded speaker and amp.

Should be epic though if it works.

Still waiting on a few things. My A.D.D. kicked in a little. and im going to make a matching pair of speakers to go with this. So far i have stripped a Lain Li case for parts and got the tolex fixed on my amp. Instead of building a copy box i was lucky to find someone split up a set and i got the one i needed. Having a bud move the feet cup holes on top for free and still waiting. soon as i get it back ill start on setting the mounting plates. i have still have to choose what im going to wrap the screen with.

Mighty upset today! I trashed my front grill with a dremel. I'll have to use tin snips or hacksaw next try. Then i was also trying out the new screen i ordered. Did not power up. hope i can find a replacement.

Here you can see my first try. It worked but its not clean enough for me so i reordered the sheet.
Going to try to find a replacement screen set up. And wait for reply about the dod.

keep your head up

setbacks have a tendency to really kick me in the balls motivation wise

I am trying to learn to work on through them and not get discouraged

So i have most parts in the case and believe everything will fit, but my old 5870 will not fit. No problem, its not going to be a full time gamer machine. This is just a for fun build using 1-2 year old parts and a few new items.

I took all the brackets, plates, screen, and matched it all in white paint.

After a few more coats of paint this will look great. Trying to get a clean look, and white matches the black/white style of the cab.

While waiting on paint to dry i started converting my new and used mini amps i got on ebay for cheap into my desktop speakers.

I have more photos but seem to hit a daily limit at photobucket. More to come this weekend.Front grill screen build attempt #2. I have a nice sheet bender now. And if that go's good then i have usb plugs and a on/off switch to to cut out. If this doesn't work i have a plain sheet of metal to use.

I just removed the amp speakers and cut some of the battery compartment away. i used a 3-pc speaker set from Creative. I was going to get a Marshall box for the bass box but thought that was a little to much. Had to make some brackets for the speakers out of a CD case and cut a hole for the wire.Used a hot iron to remove the wires so not to lose any length. They work great. And maybe sound a lil better and louder.

Having a problem with a vandal switch i got for the on/off switch. I know nothing about wiring a switch. I thought it would be easy. 4 wires what could go wrong.
000_0003_zpsb6906e4e.jpg

It has the + - and "no" "nc" and "c". now thats 5 tabs and i have 4 wires. my best guess is to run jumpers from c to nc and c to no with two of my wires going to + and two going to -
but i dont know and dont want to fry the switch or cut the ends off yet to solder. any help or links would be appreciated Thanks

As you can see i need to get the wiring done before i put the mobo back in. And then it should turn on.

For the pc power side you want C and NO as normal power switches are monetary. If you connect C and NC your pc will shutdown after 4 sec. The + and - is for powering the light in the switch. Tap off one of the Molex connection for the + and -. Use the red and black wires. The yellow wire is +12. Don't use that one.

Thanks!! I tried it. Seems to turn on but not off without holding for the hard shutdown. Should be ok since you can just shut down from within the os.

Holding it for shutdown is normal. You can configure the BIOS to do a normal shutdown with the button.

Not done yet but real close . Got it running atleast.

Is the "keyborad" used to control the monitor's functions?

oops. forgot that the 12.1 display on this has the lil keyboard. That is on the front of all displays. That is your on/off for the display with the menu and other options that come with all displays. I have a KIT for the display that the display keyboard came unattached. This is listed above, but not all the parts that came with it. Someone on Ebay sells the kits or the parts that make up the kits. The kits are made to take a old/new laptop display and use it in any form of cpu combination.
You can also see it hanging off the display a few pics up with the red LED where the back of the case is open.

I used the paper to protect the "keyborad" from this sheet steal i used for mounting it.

That is really cool and fun stuff!!! Once I find my new house, hoping to rig things up in a fun way like this, cheers!

Thanks for the info!

I'm just getting back into playing and considering rocksmith to help me build up my timing and chord transitions again. This build is really cool!
