Okay I have been using raid0 forever now, and I'm ready to stray away. I haven't had a single crash so reliability isn't scaring me, I just don't see many benefits in daily usage.

I use my system for gaming and as a HTPC. Currently I'm on 2x80gb sata drives, so I need some honest advice. (please don't quote the reliability as an issue, I have that under control with backups and such).

I'm debating on whether to get a 74gig raptor, keep one of my 80gb drives and my 160gb ATA drive as backups/recording to them, or to go with a 320gig seagate 7200.10 and my 160gb backup. Or to just keep my current setup.

Which will give me the best performance in youz guys opinions? I think my main issue comes while I'm gaming/recording at the same time. The raid0 setup seems to slow in those instances.

Raptor + 80GB drive. Unless capacity is an issue. Then go for the WD3200KS (personal preference) or the Seagate 7200.10. It boils down to how much space you need, really. If you're not maxing out your 2x80GB drives, get the Raptor. Don't expect dramatic increases in speed from the raptor, but a minor increase here or there happens.

Any multi-drive independent setup that is done with some brians will improve that. Record to one drive, play from the other.

If speed is your "absolute" concern, the 74GB raptor is your thing. The 320GB HDDs are nice too, but their seek time is significantly higher....
