GPU: 9800 GTX 512mb
MOBO: LANPARTY DK
RAM: corsair performance 4gb
OS: vista 32bit home premium
PSU: 600 watt silverpower
CASE: Lain Li pc7

and not so long into some gaming, the pc just shuts off completly with no warnings, my gpu feels HOT but the cpu is cool... ish.. lol

anyhow i kinda think maybe my gpu is fucked, but then i though why wud that cause my pc to shut down :S  and ideas?

Have you tried the troubleshooting sticky? There are guides there that can help you properly narrow down the problem.

yeah ive looked on there, tried new drivers and made sure everything is secure, i took it all to bits today to install my new HDD rack and green cathode, that i got for xmas, and cleaned up the wires best i could until i get some calbe ties, to increase air flow, i got 2 new nocua fans, but this still didnt solve it :(

What's the brand and model number of the "Silverpower" PSU?

How long have you used the PSU?

You may have to run the motherboard outside of the case to help narrow down any potential trouble areas.

Try a different power supply and see what happens.
Try a different video card and see what happens.

well i dont have a spare GPU or PSU to hand atm, so i cant test it that way...

my cpu and graphics card get stupidly hot to the touch when it shuts off...

but if it is the powersupply, i have ad 2 with this pc since it has been built, what wud be causing it to break or w.e?

and may it be software related? seen as the psu is pretty much brandnew?

i have studyed how the pc acts, and even when its just idling on the net or w.e the GPU fan speed increases

BIOS PROGRAM DEFINITION: my on board fault code screen, reads FF, which in the manual means: BIOS process completed, BIOS program executed the wrong process, therfor showing the wrong Post code,
POSSIBLE CAUSE: Mixed up bios data or the MB is defective

those points are copyed directly from the manual, i dont think the board is defective but meeh...

Down load msi afterburner and look at gpu temps. Also get a cpu program to check for heat issues.Let's know what's going on.btw take it to a shop and have your power supply tested musy places will do it for free.

No BSOD and complete shutoff sounds like either an overheating component or a overloaded power supply.

So find whichever one is doing that. If all temperatures are normal, it's your PSU.

Run HWMonitor, Real Temp, and GPU-Z. Hit Prime, Linx, and Furmark (separately)). Look at your temps and see what's overheating.

Post the temps you get (Northbridge, VREG, CPU, GPU, HDs).

Sounds like a power related issue of some kind. I would be inclined to start with the PSU if I didn't have any swap parts.

I'm not familiar with AMD... but that is a wild swing of VCORE voltage. Your other Voltages look pretty bad.

I'm guessing it's your PSU at this point since your temps seem fine and your Voltages look poor.

That swing is probably the cool n' quiet that you're seeing. Still 1.55V is a high vcore, wonder what's up with that?

Those voltages don't mean anything since its software readings. Software reading of PSU voltages are rarely accurate. You'd need a digital multimeter to get accurate PSU voltages.

Maybe not entirely accurate but not too far off. EVGA's E-leet tool is basically a modified HWMonitor and it shows pretty accurate voltages (compared with to what my BIOS shows).

Have been looking at silver psu and these units could probably be found in an e-machine.My guess is not nearly enough power on 12 volt rails.Look at sticker on side of psu and tell us what the voltage and amperages that are listed.

BIOs and software readings are pretty far off actually when you actually use a digital multimeter

Whenever your system is just up and turning off, 9/10 times it's the PSU. The other 1/10 covers everything from VC to HD to CPU to MB.
Your MB wouldn't happen to have an integrated graphics port would it? If so, unplug the VC and see if it shuts off. If it does, it's the PSU. If it doesn't, it's STILL probably your PSU, but it makes your VC a much more likely culprit.

no unfortunatly my motherboard doesnt have on-board graphics, but as you have all pointed in the direction of the PSU, i am going to remove it tomorrow and return it to CCL.

just out of interest, what would make a psu behave like this? i have jad 2 with this system now, that have broken or been defective...

i have a surge protector so its not that.

Invest a little time looking.Good psu can be purchased without cleaning out your account.

ok after all the messing around it turned out to be a bad install and a memory issue, one of my modules was broken, so im going to return that tomorrow and add some money to get dominator 1066mhz insteal of my XMS 800mhz.

so i thankyou all for your efforts in helping me out :)...

im going to get 64 bit OS as i made the mistake of buying 32bit and then 4gb of ram LOL :p

so im thinking of windows 7, what you think??
