My overclocking results

I've recently joined the overclocking bandwagon and I'm going to post my results here, can somebody tell me if these settings and temperatures are normal, I'm using a E8500 by the way.

As is they are fine, a little warm for idle temps (if those are idle temps) but not unexpected at that speed. Your memory latencies are pretty high due to the significant OC on the memory. For fun I would run a benchmark that mimics the typical use of the machine at those settings and then change the memory multiplier to 2.0 (1:1) which would drop the speed of the ram down closer to manuf spec and should allow much tighter timings and rerun the benchmark to see how much difference showed up and go with what seemed to give the best performance.

If that's stable, it's a nice overclock. Your voltage is impressively low for a C0 stepping chip.

Yeah thats pretty good.
There some headroom left if you want to clock it some more.
Up to 1.36V remains within Intels specs.

Idle temps dont mean much on the 45nM chips.
They are best ignored.

I'm using a Zalman 9500 CPU cooler, though I'm not using any thermal paste, all I did was set the clock speed higher in the BIOS and nothing else, runs perfectly. I had to make sure proper airflow is running in my case though to keep temps running like that.

We have pretty much the same numbers but my temps are cooler. I'd say you should put some thermal paste on there. My E8500 idle's at 26 degrees and only goes up to 41 when under load.

If I put the thermal paste it will make my CPU run cooler right? RIght now I have a little tube, should I apply all of it? And how long will it last for anyway, do I have to redo it again for a period of time?

Kinda new to this overclocking and cooling thing so I wouldn't really know.

Yeah it increases thermal conductivity. Just a small amount though, dont use too much.

edit: no, dont use the whole thing. You just need a tiny drop on there, when the heatsink makes contact it will smash it and spread it out on the CPU.

How did you get your temps so low? Are you using water cooling or something?

I already applied the thermal paste, no difference in the temps, still running the same.

Nope, not water cooling. I'm using an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

Its worth asking what tool is being used to measure temps.
For comparisons you need to at least be using the same tool, same version and configured correctly.

For my temps I was using the AI Suite that came with my Asus motherboard. I just downloaded Real Temp since thats what he was using and it shows idle at 30 and under load it goes up to 47. A little different than what AIsuite was showing but not a lot.

Your room temperature and the air flow in your case can also raise your cpu temps up. What is your room temperature. Also try running the computer with the side cover off. If the temperature goes down than you need better air flow in the case.

Make sure Realtemp is configured for your CPU's TjMax otherwise the temps will be out.
