OK I have a few questions.. :)

I'm coming from an AMD Barton 2500+ cpu and I now got a AMD 4200+ 64.. So I'm not up to date with all this new stuff. I also got a Geforce 460GTX Now. But heres my issue When im playing games fps is still low.. Now would this be because of the mobo only have a PCI 16x 1.0 Slot? Or is the CPU holding back the fps? I go to about 5% load.. But frames drop down to 20ish even in an old game like Morrowind.. So what is the issue? The cpu or the 1.0 PCI slot? or both.. Also one other thing.. This video card is suppost to support CUDA but GPUZ says is not capiable.. Or is it possible because of that its maybe defective and thats why frames suck?

I'm sorry its a multi facitied question :(

Hope someone can help me figure the issue.. Fallout 3 drops to 20fps and up 50fps solid.. It all depends..
 
Your video card is pretty modern and powerful, but your CPU is pretty old - pretty huge mismatch. You definitely have a CPU bottleneck. I couldn't explain why you're having trouble on Morrowind... that game is pretty old... You should be alright for Fallout also... hard to tell. Just don't expect to play Crysis with that processor.

Check your video card drivers though, make sure those are all up to date. Perhaps you could use a clean install of Windows if you haven't done so in a while. You may also want to look into overclocking that processor. I never owned that particular one (I had the single core A64 3200+ Venice), but as I recall all those chips were pretty good overclockers.
 
Yes I agree its a MAJOR mismatch.. I've wanted a new computer for some time.. 2 Weeks ago i was running an AMD Barton 2500+.. So this being a dual core was a major upgrade for me. Since I was coming from a AGP 7600GT. I told my mom I'd take her old computer (4200+ 64) if she got me a new vid card.. She agreed.. :) But I know.. I was like it has to be a CPU bottle neck or this GPU is borked. (I had to return the first one due to a DOA). Ye Morrowind is old but drops down to 20fps will max settings... :( I still love this game.. I'm hoping for a 2600K cpu soon.. Again money needs to happen for that.. But again... Because GPUZ is saying CUDA is not supported.. When the gpu is... Does that mean thats defective? And this is a fresh install of win7 so i dunno :) Can't really overclock on this either its a lame... *CRY* HP mobo that is LOCKED for any kind of tweaking.. Mind you it was still an upgrade for me which I was not going to pass up...
 
Ok, are your drivers updated?

The fact that GPU-Z cannot see that your card is CUDA enabled does not mean it's defective. It could be the fact that the latest version of GPU-Z could be defective, not reading the card correctly, or something wrong driver wise.

If you really want to make sure that card is not defective, try it in another PC and see what GPU-Z says then.
 
Thanks for the input Danny bui.. I don't have any other pcs that have a PCI-E Slot. So I guess i will try and take it to a friends.. Yup 260.99 driver i believe.. I appricate your input :) Cheers!
