I got sick of trying to pack a bunch of drives in a regular case, so i made a large wooden desktop case with a drawer for easy access.. What you guys think?

very nice!

how much harddrive space is that holding? What kind of PSU do you have to run them all!

it holds a total of 17.. should have made it a little wider or make less spaces between the drives.

I have a Antec 430Watt true power. As you can see, i have another slot for a PSU, so i'm going to split the drives between the two. I have one of those PSU splitters from performance-pcs

its too organized, too easy to maintain, too awesome

my collection of drives currently looks like...

~2.9TB

you know if you could draw up the plans/blueprints for that case you could probably sell it to someone like Mountan Mods

kuyaglen, like your setup, but all those external must cost you a pretty penny?

Your drives don't get too warm Glen with all that Pr0...i mean data going through them?

Nice work!

But I would recommend replacing that PSU ASAP. The Antec Truepower I and II line of PSUs are well known for dying under heavy loads, hot conditions, time, etc. So unless you want 17 doorstops on your hands, might want to replace that PSU ASAP.

Oh are you using some kind of RAID? If so, what RAID card are you using?

yea man, definitely going to get another PSU soon to daisy chain them together...

not using an raid, just cheap old PCI SATA controller. JBOD is the way to go :)

You know, I wish I was that good at wordworking. I'd love to build a customized case for my needs. Lots of space to get at the HDs and things I want to fiddle with. I envy you and salute you sir, beautiful server.

You need to go easy on the porn library building.

How about using removable enclosures instead of screwing the drives directly to the rails? Will make changing drives much easier in the future.

wow. looks great!! ive been thinking of doing something like that.. just never got around to it.. great job!!

Very nice and well done. Makes my brick enclosure look rather crude.
