He currently has a Earth Watts 430 powering it, but the air from the back of the PSU is kinda warm. Just curious if he is looking for trouble.

Assuming roughly 85W per CPU, that's 170W alone for the CPU at full load. Add another 24W per drive at startup and that's roughly 192W alone for the 8 hard drives at startup. Very close but those drives won't use 25W all the time (typically 15W), so your friend's server should be ok for now.

I'm guessing that most or all of the time that server won't be under full CPU or HD load, in which case the EA430 is plenty. If it is used in a situation where it is placed under very high load for extended periods of time though, I would recommend a PSU upgrade to something with ~550W of capacity or higher.

Is it possible to run Windows 2008 on a Arima HDAMA mainboard? I got the "Your BIOS is not ACPI compailant." Bluescreen booting up the setup. Latest BIOS version 2.17 Boardrevision G. Does anybody has a clue about that problem?

Best Regards,
