So, i've had 3 computers since my current. Have always only done new builds.

1. Dell, crap, but worked.
2. AMD 2400+ awesome.
3. AMD 939 x2 4400+ awesome. (Mobo fan died) $15 to replace no big deal. Last 6 months of this build i had bought an 8800gts 512mb. Realizing im bottle necking myself i decided to upgrade to my below build.

EVGA x58 Mobo
6gb GSkill Ram
EVGA 8800GTS 512mb
750W PC Power & Cooling PSU

The current build, which i've had since around the time windows 7 went into beta.
A few months in, Windows 7 suddenly said i had 6gb of ram installed but only detected 4gb. Found out i had a bad stick, didn't seem to need more than 4gb anyways... so i said "meh" oh well.

Fast forward to about 5 months ago. ARTIFACTING... and dead 8800gts 512mb.
Keep in mind i monitor my temps religiously, i don't push clocks.

I order a 470gtx... wait a week, plug it in... and it don't work. Plug it in to my old build, and it works... so im like "Crap i have a bad mobo too".
It'd power up but won't boot.

I contact EVGA, had not registered any of my parts.. they were nice, and warrantied my Mobo. Thought i'd ask and they decided to warranty my dead 8800gts 512mb too!
So i am thinking, SWEET! So everything went well after that point... mobo replacement worked great. They sent me an 8800gtx to replace the 8800gts, which i then put away into storage since i had my 470gtx to use anyways.

Fast forward a few months, i buy a tv, i come to realize you can't have 3 active displays on one card, i dig out the 8800gtx, problem solved.
One week later, 8800gtx is dead, WTF. I never had the card go above 60c, since i only used it on my slave display for web browsing.
And now my 8800gtx is way outside its RMA'd 30-day warranty /facepalm.

So, the question is, why are so many parts dying?!?
I cannot shake the feeling that my PSU is somehow killing my parts. However, everyone i've described my situation to has told me a PSU failure just doesn't work that way.

Have i just had good luck with parts in my past computers?
Is it possible to have parts that just kill each other, im starting to suspect this EVGA Mobo. /end paranoid rant.

EDIT: Found an old 7900, let see if that lasts.

A defective PSU can indeed cause the issues you're describing in my experience.

However, those same issues can also result from really poor electricity in the home too.

I agree with both points. Unfortunately, the only real fix for poor-quality electricity short of having the entire house rewired by an electrician would be a UPS.
