wow, its 6000 dollars and doesn't even come with an Athlon64, my computer cost 1000 and would own that any day.

oh and they have Geforce FX 6800 Ultra's now? neeto. that "standard case power supply" doesn't sound so hot tho.

If you really bought that, i think i would have to kill you.

You bought 2 copies of XP...And it doesn't even have an FX-55, or even a 53...Not even an A64! Did you just go and pick the most expensive everything...except the processor? And...For 6000 dollars I'd get 2 gigs of ram...Maybe even 4.

It is his Dream guys. Don't wreck it for him..... I am sure he is very happy becuase of all the work he put into it. Keep with your dreams Earthscore!!!!!!

Why should we be nice? This comp sucks!

1. Where did you buy it?
2. Get the same shit at newegg

does he really need all that kit? i wud recommend AMD64 as well, as the prices have come down a lot (also money doesnt seem to be the issue!)

sorry dude, but WTF are you thinking?????
6k is a horrible waste on that system

and what the hell are you going to do with two copies of office?

edit: what is an AMD based CPU? do you mean system?
what int eh world do you need with 800 gigs?

teh drool is not present

edit: lol at 2 copies of office. and windows media center on a dream pc????

Everything in that list sucks, $89 for a wifi card? 2 copies of Office? An XP chip? $50 telephone modem? 800GB drive space? Rush delivery? Where are you getting this? www.getaposcomputerfor6000bux.com? I'm not drooling, my $1000 computer can kick yours' ass 6x over.

hehe that computer sux....a real amd dream machine is more like this; some of which is en-route to my house as we speak, others I will be ordering in 2 weeks on my birthday, and still others when they finally come out

If you have the cash, try to order something like this, it will TRASH that machine above

amd fx-55
Vapochill LS
EVGA Geforce 6800 Ultra (425mhz core stock)
Swiftech mcw20-t pelt watercooling for the card
DFI nf4 mobo (whenever it comes out)
Pc Power and Cooling 510 Deluxe with custom modded external pots from factory
2x 74GB WD Raptors in Raid 0
Coolermaster ATC 101b case
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Plat.
Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra's with another sub hooked up via sws link (and a real sub, not the standard sws sub)
Sony Trinitron 21in CRT monitor
Logitech DiNova keyboard with mx1000 laser mouse
Dual layer dvd burner, cd burner, media card reader, etc

Thats more like it

until it blows up because of your psu, which will happen soon....

I know, a 500W PSU is on its way as soon as my paycheck comes.

all told i've got a little over 2 terabytes in my house spread between three comps... one of which has 6x 250 gb maxtor SATA drives... it houses all 130 of my dvds plus my music collection and other assorted things, 800 gig really isn't that unreasonable

good, but I wasn't referring to wattage really. That company is known to have.....fireworks shall we say...inside of computers. go check out two of my threads in the psu forum; the "Post your PSU Blowing Up Stories Here!!!" thread and my sticky on "Before buying a psu" for some funny stories about raidmax and the like of generic psu's and some great reccomendations on all price ranges for stable psu's that will outlast you.

Though it has been said about a dozen times now, I thought this deserved my attention ... that is a crappy crappy system for $6000, wtf are/were you thinking lol?

First, an XP system for $6000? errr ... FX or Opteron pls
Second, you're going to pay the highest premium on 2 400gB hds when you can get 4x250gB drives for less?
Third, Modem for $47????? wtf do you need a modem for, and if you do, I can find you one in the trash for free (or if you must buy it pay about $10 for it)
Fourth, how is a NOMAD considered part of a computer system?
Fifth, Geil Value ram? wtf, dude for $6000 you better be getting better memory then PC3200 value ram lol
Sixth, there are much better 20" LCDs out there then viewsonic, ESPECIALLY for that unehard of price
Seventh, Standard PSU for all this, come on, cant be cheap here, without a PSU your comp is a box with cool looking parts
Eighth, you're going to pay $109 for 'rush' delivery? meh youre call I guess
Ninth, only a 600DPI scanner with this dream machine? I just bought a 1200dpi for $80 CDN , and I consider it low level
Tenth, you can get much better speakers for $250
Eleventh, 2 copies of Office? im not exactly sure I understand, but meh
- PS: if you're EVIL you can eliminate the office software from your 'dream comp' altogether, but thats wrong (lol)
Twelth, zip drive? havnt even seen one of those in a long time, hell my keychain flash memory drive holds more then one of those clumsy disks

END TRASH

Heh I know this post wasn't constructive in the least, I just thought that after having read all that garbage from his 'dream machine' it was my obligation to rip into him lol, wrong I know, but what are you gonna do?

Well, my wish list is a 500w Antec, heard some great reviews on it. Haven't heard much of exploding raidmax 420s though.

HDD: Hitachi 400GB 7200RPM Serial ATA 150 8MB Cache [+376]
HDD2: Hitachi 400GB 7200RPM Serial ATA 150 8MB Cache [+459]

It costs an extra 83 bucks for another harddrive.

I used to make such a dream system when I was much younger. It was great fun imagining how great the computer would be and how fast it would be. Don't ruin his day, even though he might not have made the best system. It his definition of taking it to the max. :)

Ahhh the memories of making my first pc almost 3yrs ago...the sweet memories. Luckily for me I had friends who looked out for me and smacked me upside the head when I started to put pointless things into my pc. I'll come out and say I put a Geforce MX 420 video card in my pc (yea not even a 440 very sad...very very sad) untill my friends egged me into buying a TI 4400.

Ignorance is bliss untill you have to wake up and face the reality of the truth and the truth is that that "thing" is going to make him a very unhappy Columbine shooter when he finds out the truth about his $6000 "thing"

then why the hell did you post a 6k dollar system based around an athlon XP?!?!

I put together a dream system a year and a half ago for a little over $6000
2 3.06ghz Xeons
Supermicro X5DA8 motherboard
BBA 9800pro
1gb ECC PC2700
Audigy2 Platinum
NEC 1860NX LCD
Windows XP Pro / Mandrake 9 PowerPack
ETC...

Would own your dream system. 1.5 years ago.

dude..... wtf

in noooooo way does that make sense at all....

the Athlon XP is a weaker cpu.

The Athlon 64 is more expensive and much faster....

So why would ur "real" computer purchase contain a Athlon XP but ur "dream" computer contain a slower processor??

Dude, do everyone a favor.... please know what your talking about before you post.

I think hes gone into hiding... or back to alienware.com or wherever he got that crap. perhaps he poured water on his monitor to put out all the flames he'll be getting. take it easy on him. hes probably like my friends that think an old 2400 and 600 megs of ram in a cheapo HP computer (with a cheapo psu) would be more stable than an overclocked a64 system.

haha no i didnt run away, i went to steal candy from the kids at my school who stole candy from other ppl. Smartest thing ever, be a baseball player 4 halloween so u get to carry around a bat. GG

At least it isn't a POWMAX. I got one with a really inexpensive case rated at 400W. It worked great with IE6 and the desktop. I loaded up a game of Jedi Academy
~60seconds later ~BZZZZOOOOOOOM~ didn't even have a fuse......

Good thing you didn't buy that thing... people here, however unfriendly they may seem, can help you put together a very nice system, just by telling what sucks. So, you get everything that doesn't suck :D

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Winchester) (O/C to 2.6ghz or higher) -$265.00
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum 939 socket -$131.00
G.SKILL PC4400 1GB kit x2 -$480.00
Vapochill LightSpeed Lian-Li PC-65 case- -$1060.00
Maxtor 300GB 7200RPM SATA (16mb) x4 -$824.00
Plextor 12X DVD+/-RW Drive -$72.00
Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM -$27.50
Mitsumi USB Digital Card Reader/Writer W/FD - $25.50
eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra -$500.00
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum - $170.00
Logitech THX Certified Z-680 5.1 Speaker 500Watt -$219.00
Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite Combo -$90.00
OCZ PowerStream 520W P/S With Adjustable Power Rails -$140.00
SONY SDM-P234/B 23" Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD(16ms) -$1,625.00

Total- $5,629.00

Hmm... 2.6ghz A64, 2GB of RAM, 600GB of RAID 0+1,etc,etc

And that just off the top of my head. You could go though and customize the case and add some other small thing to tally it up to $6,000

...and still horribly overpriced.

Half the cost of that is some ridiculously overpriced botique custom case + an obscene monitor.

...the monitro would be really nice to have tho. :D
