That "some ridiculously overpriced botique custom case" (even though the correct spelling is boutique)... Either way, it comes with a phase-change cooling system. Doesnt' VapoChill ring any bells? The case itself costs $100, but the phase changer in it costs the rest. You could buy the phase changer alone for like $899...

I agree with the others. This is one of the better computer forums on the web in my opinion. Post a thread asking what a dream pc would consist of... and I can assure you.... you'll get very accurate responses from a variety of computer savys. If you want to build a cheap computer yourself... then this is the right forum to post in.
 
I really don't think anyone is trying to be mean, but whenever people post threads about their dream systems, or systems they're planning to buy, or whatever, and the parts are really awful, there tends to be a whole lot of posts about how the thread creator made all the wrong choices.

This is especially true when the thread creator seemed to just pick all the most expensive options for precisely everything (except motherboard and CPU, in this case).
 
I can build you a decent rig for $5000, and then you can use the other $1600 to buy some more candy so you don't have to steal it from the other 5th graders.

Actually, I'll let your post speak for itself. Adam, who has been registered here for like 15 days, called earthscore a noob. Then bishop YYC, registered for 3 days, called adam a noob. I was telling them that they really can't call anyone else a noob in a degrading fashion because they themselves are noobs.

I think a large cost of the system comes from the $800 he is spending on his two harddrives.


Because 80 gigabytes just isn't enough.


Price does not equal performance my friend. ANd honestly when any system goes past $1500 I would much rather have an opteron or G5 server than a gaming PC.

You can't argue the fact that you have most likely spent more time in this forum then me, earthscore, and Bishop YYC combined....and for my original post. I did nothing but copy and paste the users name and label fon the left margin from the orignal post. SO TECHNICALLY, I did nothing but emphasize what the forum had already labeled him as. The computer market is very complex and diversified. As complicated as I used to think computers were, after learning about them and understanding them, I've realized that this isn't the case. A few hours of research can make a world of difference. The positive aspect that you can take from this thread, is the fact that you didn't go out and spend that kinda money only to discover your money was spent on a mediocre computer.

I can clear some things up for you now.

AMD 64 > AMD XP
When it comes to gaming AMD > Intel.
You can upgrade the very system you have now to a high end system for approximately $600.
As I have already said, I feel this is one of the better forums on the internet. Ask questions and you'll get answers. Don't state facts without evidence and you'll get the results your looking for.

After reading thorugh your previous posts; I misinterpreted your post concerning myself, bishop yyc, and earthscore. I apologize and retract my comments concerning that matter.

However, your second point is incorrect. For all intents and purposes, I did nothing more than label him for what the forum had already done. I became frustrated when he insisted on arguing cases he had no knowledge of. I argued these points and did nothing more. I then referred to him acting as an 11 year old because of his immature post. So in reality I didn't break any forum rules. Your third point holds water; I was laughing because when I raed his post I was thinking along the same lines simply because he was too classified as a "noob". For me this was not the case. I was considered a H[Lite]. So in my opinion. Knowledgeable enough to relieve mysself of the classification noob.

I again apologize for my comments concerning false accusations that I had made.
