My conroe setup. need a memory suggestion

I am a little taken aback from the comments regarding those of us who purhcase the expensive ram. I do not choose Mushkin just becuase of low latency performance. I purchase from Mushkin becuase I have not had a memory related issue since i began doing business with them. Thier customer service is excellent, thier shit works as advertised and I can afford it.
PS: Thier shipping containers rock........... luxury items are luxury items and I wont feel guilty about indulging myself. I earned it.

Just my .02

It's not a matter of boosting performance, its the overhead corsair memory allows which absolutely removes the "maybe my memory is failing" part of trying to reach that insane overclock we all strive for. Oh BTW my Infinity 975X was not cheap, and as soon as nForce 590 arrives for Conroe I will be the first to get one, so spending money on motherboards, to me is more important than buying memory, that's why I buy the good stuff, one time, so that part of the equation is completed.

turning your divider down absolutely removes the "maybe my memory is failing" part of overclocking much better. cheaper, too.

But once you change your divider away from 1/1 you lose the asynchronous speed that we are looking for. The only way to run super overclocks is with memory that has the bandwidth to handle it asynchronous.

I have no problem with people buying luxury items. I have a problem with people who make up stories (like Corsair making their own ICs, LOL) to support their luxurious purchases.

Enjoy your RAM.

Who ever said Corsair makes their own IC's. Who's making up stories now. What was said is that Corsair obtains IC's from whoever, just happens to be Micron for the Memory we are talking about, Picks the Cream of the Crop and then works them to corsair standards which are the epitome of perfection. So before you flame, get your facts straight.

That's why I always buy Crucial or Corsair memory. It's good stuff, period.

Sorry. I guess I interpreted these words wrong:

Yes, I agree it's the chips that count. And Corsair make the best. In my Opinion.

Crucial is the only one who makes their own chips. (Micron = Crucial)

Corsair's testing which seems to leave the most headroom is known to be one of the best.

Mushkin from my (limited) experience with them was also very good. I haven't bought from mushkin since I got some PC150. (yes, sdram! )

Geil, G.Skill & OCZ I group together b/c all 3 are targeting the same audience. The overclockers. Similar products, similar quality, sometimes you get duds (DOA).

I usually go on price. Unless I have a particular clock speed / FSB that I'm targeting. Since I went with the e6600, I knew my FSB wasn't going to be insanely high so I went with G.Skill. Now if the 6300/6400's had 4Mb of cache & just a lower multiplier, I would have bought one of them, and probably Corsair b/c I would have known in advance that I'd need a much higher FSB to acheive my desired OC.

Also theres more to ram than chips. The PCB can make a big difference in the quality, layers, assembly, etc... Then like most have mentioned already, the company's in house testing / binning is the most important factor.

You are a confusing individual. I said the chips inside were what mattered, not the manufacturer of the RAM. To which you replied that you agreed, so clearly you were talking about the ICs. If not, then you couldn't have possibly "agreed" with me.

See? So we don't agree.

Yes I agree with you that it is the chips that count. Chips meaning the sticks of Ram. I apologize if you thought I meant the actually IC's were manufactured my Corsair. That I did not mean, but I can see how you would of thought that. I can be a confusing person you are right.

Bottom line when Corsair obtains the IC's from Micron, they put them through a rigorous regiment that only produces the cream of the Memory Industry.

Hehe, I saw you all collect up your favorite brands of ram. Meet up somewhere, and beat each with them until one is left standing. That will obviously be the best stick of ram!

If you think Corsair is perfect, your smoking crack. If you don't think plenty of people with Corsair memory have problems with bad memory or bad OC's also, suggest you try looking at their support forums

The TeamXstream stuff using the Micron D9 chips has hit the highest clocks I've seen so far. Does this mean the G.Skill HZ's I bought suck? Hardly, they hit much higher speeds than I need, so thats why I bought them. Buy what you need. If you need memory thats going to run at 1200 mhz, or 1066 C4 then buy some thats rated to run at those speeds or has been shown by multiple people to hit those numbers. Don't just go by some brand loyalty thinking Corsair or Crucial are the gods of memory and can't make a lemon.

Yes, you are right. But that can be said about all memory manufacturers. I just happen to like Corsair, because I have never had a problem with their memory. I swap motherboards at least once a month, but always use the same ram. Its really just a matter of what works best for you. I'm not saying corsair doesn't make lemon's, they just make less of them.

PS Did you check out some of those messages on the Corsair Forum. Most of them are actually giving praise and saying Corsair Rocks. LOL..

Ah, Aldamon you still dont get it do you? What ever IC's corsair throws away the rest pickup..thats just the way it is. Get over it.
