Are 8500's able to AA in Half Life 2 or Counter Strike? For 3dMark 2001 I was able to AA, mainly because I saw the FPS drop as I upped it. But for some reason, trying to AA in CS source turns like my textures pink. Also, running the stress test shows no difference in FPS comparing AA 4x and No AA. What could be wrong? No DX9 support?

Try enabling DX8 mode. There's a console command for it but I don't remember it exactly.

I don't think you'd want to enable AA on an 8500, they only can do Super Sample AA. It's painfully slow.

Anyway, try enabling AA through the ATi driver control panel / catalyst conrol center, which ever one you have installed.

Try getting a new video card... then AA will work no problem.

MooseEdit: This is borderline....don't let it happen again.

I don't need to buy a new card before I move to PCI Express, it works fine for me, 55fps 1024/768 on medium settings in Source is good enough. I just want to know if there is a way to fix this.

If you are turning on AA in the drivers, try setting them to Application Preference and turn on the AA in the game menu. If that is the way you are doing it, then try turning AA off in the game menu and enabling it in the driver properties.

I didnt even think that teh 8500 had AA..
But yea, try forcing it on in your ati settings..

Forewarn: AA on 8500 will be so slow. I used to use an 8500, so take my word for it.

AA was available on the original Radeon (rebagged later as the Radeon 7200)

Ok well for some reason, I can AA perfectly fine in 3dMark2001 but in source.... now I know what you guys are talking about in Slow AA. Never trying it again.
