Just arrived in the past hour. Its the same size as my Ti 4200. I just plopped in it and did the proper driver cleaning as recommended in the sticky atop the Video Cards Forum Page. Initial impressions are very positive
First thing I did was not run anything from 3DMark but instead fire up some Far Cry. Whereas with my Ti 4200 I ran 1024x768 and generally average in the 20-30fps range I suppose [it would]ary hugely though as I could get 60+ when going down corridors
] on medium detail levels; I now set to 1280x1024 on high and was probably averaging close to double the fps in some modes.
But since almost everyone and their dog will ask for the 3DMark stuff here it is. This is with the lastest Forceware 91.47 and no changes to the detail levels, no LOD bias, as stock as stock gets. Even the speeds were stock i.e.560/700[1400]:
03: 12207
05: 5897
I did hit the detect optimal button and it gave me 604/797[1594] but I didn't enable those. I'll probably put some AS on the core before I OC it and maybe even volt mod it
. I really don't want to go back to the days where I'm chasing various drivers down to max out my 3DMark score. I'd guess with a proper OC those scores would probably end up in the 03=14K and 05=6500 neighborhood but who really cares.
Next thing I'm doing is trying out all the demos I've got FEAR, COD2, Prey and Q4. This should be quite a treat from my Ti 4200.
I cannot advise agp users highly enough on this baby if you can order one while they're in stock. It doesn't appear to be much of a leap from a 6800Ultra but it is slightly.
Updates to follow.
