MX1000, Hardforum Opinions?

Hey my mouse is broken right now, an old microsoft intelli explorer or somthing like that, anyways is the mx1000 worth the ~80 or so dollars? Also what are your guy's opinions on it compared to other mouses? I heard it was too heavy, and too awkard and stuff, a real pain to charge and to place the base and stuff? Should I order one? I play games a lot so I could use an enthuisiast level mouse.
 
Do you use mozilla and/or a kvm? If so you might have minor difficulties with the mx1000 (issues with the extra buttons). Outside of those I'm very happy with mine. Due to the kvm issue I ran into I have my old intellimouse optical plugged into the other computer. When I was using it before I got this mouse I liked it. Now it feels flimsy ;)
 
I am waiting until the corded version comes out (If it does) Otherwise I am gonna keep my MX510
 
Has anyone seen it online for cheaper than $70? Newegg is asking nearly $90 for it and i have seen it for cheaper than that. Its a shame newegg is starting to take advantage of their reputation. ANYWAYS, has anyone seen this mouse for cheaper?

The MX1000 is my first cordless mouse and I've got to say, I like this thing. It fits my big hand very well. It's comfortable. Very responsive. I haven't had any issues placing it in the cradle to charge and I'm still working on the charge over night last weekend. I did have an issue with the Logitech drivers and my Raritan KVM but just replaced it with an Avocent 4 port USB w/ audio KVM (would have gone with an Iogear KVM but I like the fact tha Avocent has a button for each system.). Logitech's drivers are now happy and see the mouse for what it is. Gaming wise, I haven't thrown much at it but EVE and DAOC. Hope to get some Doom3 action soon. A friend seems pleased with his MX1000 and games he's thrown at it (Battlefield Vietnam being one).

I look forward to a corded version for a work system. :)
 
Ok well I bought it a few hours ago, and I have a MAJOR gripe with the mouse. Whenever I bring the mouse up, move it, and then bring it back down to scroll around on lower sensitivy for fps games, it pauses when I bring it back down for like an entire 1/2 second, which is enough to throw my aim off and annoy the hell out of me for an 80 dollar mouse. Is there a fix to this or am i gonna have to return this 86 dollar mouse for a 20 dollar mouse that works better?
 
I have the 510 in Red and I believe its the same as the MX1000 Its great, I felt a little werid at first but I love it.
 
IF you want the ultimate corded mouse.. get the RAzor Diamondback.
That sucker is just brutally fast. :)
 
The MX 510 and MX 1000 have the same specs ( 5.8MP/800dpi ) but the laser gives the mouse a more define image. This better image gives the mouse better accuracy. As for the pricing, they are high, but they are flying of the shelf too...

from the sound of it the laser is turning off when you pick the mouse up.
solution: dont pick the mouse up :)

alternative solution: my MX700 doesn't do that to me. The 900 (BT) shouldn't either. I dont think the MX500 series (same but corded) ever turn off their sensors. But that may be wrong.

does anyone know where there might be a plugin or something that will fix this with firefox? it drives me nuts lol
 
How about the mx700? It seems to have most of the same stuff as the mx1000 but should be a lot cheaper by now. I have had one for over a year and it still works great. It runs the whole day on an overnight charge still after a year,

My buddy bought a MX1000, I have a MX700. Played a few rounds of UT2004 on his PC. To tell you the truth I felt little to no difference between the 1000 and the 700. Maybe a little smoother but nothing I could actually scream about. I do like the feel of it though. That and the laser does actually work on high gloss surfaces where the 700 would fail. I dont plan on upgrading to one anytime soon. It feels only slightly better than the 510 and 700's
 
ive got a bluetooth mx900 and it suits my needs for gaming just fine. i dont think id be buying an mx1000 any time soon, my friend has 1 and ive noticed no real diffrence between them both as for responcive-ness both seem to respond relitvly the same.

Think if you uninstall the MouseWare software the buttons end up working as back/forward, haven't heard of any other solutions tho.

Yes, we know you like your Diamondback mouse, but the original poster was asking about the MX1000.
 
The pause some people are describing after picking the mouse up and setting it back down, this has only happened to me on a few surfaces. I don't have this problem with my XM1000 on my fUnc 1030. So, it seems, to me so far, that this issue is dependant on the mouse pad your using.

Also, as for some/most buttons not working in Firefox, set the buttons to "Generic Button" in Setpoint and they will function properly.
 
I throw mine on the charger every night out of habit so I've never let it run down yet but from what I've read from others, the MX1000 has a longer battery life than MX700.
 
after typing this i did some poking around and a few people are saying it can last up to a week under heavy use. Sounds very promising, especially since I want something that can take the abuse.
 
Out of the box with the default settings of the drivers, the mouse has issues with some buttons not working as expected. But all it takes is a few tweaks of the settings and all those issues clear up.
 
i got it $66 at Sams club. I heard it had 21 day bat life on a full charge

With the MX1000, MouseWare is no longer used. Logitech replaced it with software called Setpoint.

i read its because the laser turns it self off the moment its lifted, so u cant blind yourself with the invisible laser.. im sure it will be fixed with next driver out,.
 
Laser is always on, look directly into the lense and you will see the light red dot of the laser

I wish it were bigger still... :D I was getting a feel for it at CompUSA and I did notice it turns off when I pick it up but not right away ('least the one they had on display didn't), you had to keep it up in order for the lights to turn off... Maybe there's a setting that controls this delay or something, didn't seem like it'd turn off from dragging it across your pad at all tho.

Uhmm, No, it's an infra-red laser so the human eye can't see it, or do you just happen to have Predator vision?

I've seen it in only one color everywhere I've been... It's a dark grey (same dark grey on the darker parts of the Bluetooth MX900) and black... I guess gunmetal would be a more silverish MX700-like combination but I haven't seen it in that combo anywhere.
