Going to start working on a new project for work.

I'm building a system for monitoring servers/devices.

I'm going to have 3 or 4 monitors (depending on budgets) and one Windows based PC to control them.

Whats the best route to go as far as video cards? I have a pretty strict budget to adhere to, so I was initially thinking of using 4 cheap PCI video cards.

But how is that going to work in windows? I've never actually played with a system with more than one video card in it.

Probably a stupid question, but I'm needing to be pointed in the right direction. :)

TIA

Probably the cheapest way to get those monitors connected is to buy a cheap AGP or PCI Express adapter (depending on your motherboard, if you are buying a new one get one with PCI Express). Even the cheap ones can fit two monitors in to the them. Then you need a another adapter for the rest of the monitors a cheap PCI adapter is suitable here (they usually have two connectors for monitors too).

Also it really doesn't matter that much what adapters you have for your purposes as long as you can plug in all the monitors. Windows can handle the multiple monitors quite effortlessly.

Gotcha.

I guess it was a pretty dumb question, I just wasn't sure how windows would handle having multiple video cards.

I assume you can assign each to a "display" just like you do when you hook up and monitor and TV at the same time..

Thanks
