I just impulse bought a centauri carbon 2 kit with the canvas setup. I took about a year off of 3d printing, but I never did multi color.

Any good tips or suggestions on successful prints using multi color? I always just used cura to slice, but is that sufficient still?

Getting the hang of orca still, but this printer is light years better than my old Neptune 4.
The state of the art seems to have improved a lot. I have a Snapmaker U1 and it's pretty much click and print, even with 4 colors. Plus the multi toolhead setup is drastically faster and produces far less waste than the older single had designs.

Wow I was unaware of the Snapmaker U1. It seemed like everything was moving towards MMUs/AMS's rather than multiple toolheads (I really wanted an SV04 to replace my workhorse SV06, but it looked like a dud from reviews). Toolchanging looks like a step closer to IDEX since the filament stays in the head, without the complications. Thanks--new thing to budget for, ha.

I looked at the Flashforge A5DX and then I saw how much waste that style generates. Multiple toolheads are pretty nice.

Yeah it's shocking how much waste there is unless you design your parts specifically for it. I've done some prints in the past where I swap colors either for effect or for design (I made a yard sign with a white background and black letters, for example). But in those cases an AMS is just saving you time, it's not adding capablities like tool changing would. It seems like tool changing can do everything independent dual heads can do, just slower.
