I'm looking at picking up a 4970K (i'm coming from a X4 955 BE, so expecting a huge jump in performance. I've been looking at various Z97 motherboards, and just realized there are a bunch of cheaper H97 motherboards available.

What are the downsides of buying a middling H97 rather than a middling Z97? Is a H97 a bad idea?

I doubt I'll ever run multiple videocards, I can live without overclocking...as long as i still get to take advantage of the 4.4GHz turbo frequence (would I still get that with a H97?)

One thing I do want is a fullsize motherboard for my large case - so I'm considering the MSI H97 Guard Pro (the only ATX H97 motherboard on Microcenter)

What's the price difference between the h97 and z97 guard pros? I've used the z97 guard pro and it works pretty well for what it is. If you're buying a k processor, why not spend a few extra bucks on the z97?
