Hi,

Am getting close to pulling the trigger for a new GPU. Narrowed it down to either the MSI 570 Twin Frozr III or the 580 Lightning. Currently only gaming at 1080 so I realise its overkill for now, but a new monitor is next on the list...

Anyway, my concern is my PSU. Antec Tp - 650.... I can't see any issue with the 570, but i'm unable to find anywhere that definitively says if 650 watts is sufficient for a single 580 Lightning. Can anyone confirm is this be enough?

Cheers

Chris

650W is more than enough for a GTX 580. A good 500W can probably cut it.

I love my 580 lightning :)

Thanks for the reply...

Enough even when oc'd along with an oc'd CPU?

If so then I guess that settles it ...MSI 580 Lightning it is. Really didn't want to risk spending so much on a GPU only for my PSU to struggle.

Yup, a good 650W is more than enough for a highly overclocked system with a GTX 580.

Think of it this way, the GPU can't draw more than 300W at maximum (it's more like 200W) CPU draws around 100W at max.

It is fine. I ran gtx 470 oc plus i7 920 3.72ghz system on a corsair fine. Specs and reviews of power draw show a 650w has no issues cor oc gtx580+2600k or 920/etc.
