Is there any way to hack a standard PS2 mouse to use a USB plug, without using an adapter? Its a standard optical mouse that I am using (I am not sure if that matters) and after opening it up, as far as I can tell there are only four wires coming in from the PS2 plug. There are also four wires for USB, does anyone know if the two ends can just be swapped?

Sorry, it's unpossible.
PS/2 has +5v, ground, clock and data
USB has +5v, ground, data+ and data-
