I hope polling frequency is the right term. Here's my understanding of most of this:
USB - 125Hz
PS/2 - Up to 200Hz
DPI - the resolution of the mouse.
This sound about right? Please correct if wrong.
I remember when I got my first Logitech gaming mouse - the big three button ball mouse. When I raised the PS/2 Freq, everything smoothed out. And of course my accuracy went way up. It was a welcome change. Here I am years later still stuck at 200Hz. I wonder if were possible to increase it if it would make a difference.
Most opticals have 800dpi resolution and some of the gaming mice like Razer have much higher dpi numbers. Doesn't increasing the DPI just minimize the size of movement required to go from point A to point B and the precision to some point? Aren't you still restricted by the hardware connections (at least to some extent)? Are there any other ports that have a higher polling freq - maybe like firewire? <--suppose I could google that.
