just wondering, it seems that a lot of mobos has the debug indicators, does not having one bother you? and do you use some other sort of debugger?

A stick of ram burned out earlier in the year for me and it took me a while to find it.
On my old 8RDA+ i had debug code indicators and those save a lot of time.
So now I find myself always wanting to see a debugger on a mobo. It seems to be cheap enough and simple enough to implement so why dont more manufacturers use them?

Cost is pretty much the reason why it isn't on more boards. On my Maximus 1 board, the LCD debugger saved me a lot of time when it wouldn't boot. I had an old Epox board with the debugger on it, and it worked great (when the board worked, but that's another story).

Even Dell has a 4 bulb system on some of their motherboards indicating through the use of green and amber lights what the problem is. I used it to diagnose bad memory in an old Dimension.

Boards without a debug module use beep codes from the onboard audio connector by the power, reset switch connectors...

This. Granted, the LED system I've seen on some of my boards is nice, but the beeps are helpful, assuming you know how to connect the speaker.

I'd say probably half of the new cases don't have speakers in them, so it's only somewhat helpful.

You can buy mini speakers from places like Maplin for cheap.

doesn't bother me at all not having a debugger.
my last build I didn't even have a speaker in the case (saves my ears from that annoying sound)
If it didn't boot I obviously had to go through many more steps to find the root of my problem though (usually forgetting to hook the power somewhere though )
still it didn't bother me, and I have had boards with the 4 led lights that give basic codes, sure they come in handy, but not a necessity
