Ok I messed up big time. Let me explain.

I got a lian li PC-V1000B case
Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme
EVGA 680i mobo.

First, look at this pic.
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/6894/cpusvb3.jpg

As you can see, I put a Abit 35pro on top, an Asus board in the middle (one i am looking at getting), and the EVGA 680i mobo that I currently have on the bottom.

The problem is this. I put the evga board in the case and set the heatsink where it was supposed to go. I then saw it would not fit properly and was running into the wall the seperates the PSU compartment from the mobo compartment. If you look on that pic, out of all three the EVGA had the CPU socket closest to the edge of the board, which was causing my problem.

So according to a this post on saw on the forums, this person got the thermalright ultra 120 extreme in the same case with aAbit P35. I put a red line on that image to show the differences in space and the Abit does have more than the EVGA. So if I got that Asus (which shows even more room that that P35) would I be able to fit the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme in there no problem?

This is the asus mobo:

Does it look like a good mobo to you all? I plan on overclocking.

I recently bought the EVGA 680i mobo, and it doesn't play very nice with my Nvidia 8800GTS... Apparently it doesn't happen on all systems, but I get a video driver error when I play any games (or even some videos) that are video card intensive for more than 10min.
Try to Google this string of letters "nvlddmkm" (its part of the driver's error message)

...anyhow... *thoroughly embarassed about previous irrelevant post* I also had some problems with the space issues with my FreezerPro 7. It fits. barely.

The nvlddmkm spans across every board/chipset. It's a Nvidia issue, not a motherboard issue.

Uh, I have good news for you.

If you put on the Thermalright 120 Extreme so the fans intake is facing the PCI X16 slot it will fit. I have the 120 X installed on a Abit In9 32x max motherboard and it fit's perfectly, the socket could even be .5 of an inch closer to the side and it would still fit. So just rotate the cooler 90 degrees, and everything will be good. :D

Well I tried that and it looks as if it wouldn't be the most effcient way to position it. Would it make a big difference if it was facing the other direction?

I highly doubt it would raise the CPU temp 1C. My V2000B will be here sometime next week. So I'm in the same boat you are.

BTW, I have the same PSU, CPU cooler, and the same brand ram. It's a sweet system.:D

Yeah i think I'm going to say screw it and mount it like that. I have researched and researched and just dont want to part with any of the parts. So I am going to mount it like that and add a 3rd fan to help redirect the air. My goal is 3ghz on a Q6600, so I HOPE I can do that fine with that.
