Hi.

I have an Asus P5K-VM with a Q6600. I wanted to replace the stock HSF and try the H50. I do want to run some other fans, as I should, but im running out of fan headers. Below is MB fan header layout.

The CPU_FAN header will get the Corsair fan used with the radiator. .
The PWR_FAN will get the H50 pump I am assuming.
That leaves the CHA_FAN1 for fans.

I have one 80mm intake at the front thats connected to CHA_FAN1.
I would like to add two 80mm exhaust fans (only size thats fits this HTPC lian li case) going out the back.

Where can I connect these two fans?
Can I use a splitter with the PWR_FAN or CHA_FAN1? Can they be connected to a spare lead coming off the Corsair 450W PSU?

I expect all fans to run at their fixed max speeds except for the CPU controlled one.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

oops, move to motherboard section i guess.
was reading about o/c the q6600 from 2.4 to 3.2 and posted to this section.

youd be better off to have those intake/exhaust fans taking power from the psu not the board. leave the h50 on the headers you were planning on. youll be taking stress off the motherboard and it will be easier and cleaner to connect the other fans. the 4 pin molex to 3 pin fan adapters are all over the place. if you dont want 3 adapters you could just make your own harness so they all combine into one, unless you can find a 3 or 4 way splitter that would suit your needs. ive never seen one though.

You are good, its more cooling/fan than motherboard. All boards would have the same issue, never enough fan headers or they are not in the right places etc.
 
allrighty....connect the fans thru molex to psu it is!

thanks guys. been using laptops for 6 years now...out of practice with desktops.
