Any opinions on the most reliable Forceware version? I'm using 186.18 with my GTX 285,with mixed results.They worked well with Crysis and Wolfenstein,but I've gotten some freeze-ups with the Halflife 2 episodes.I've been out of gaming for a while and have a lot of games to catch up on,is there a particular set of drivers that work well with older games as well as newer releases?
 
For my 8500gt, it's one of the 180.xx series. Anything newer and my system would give strange artifacts upon resuming from standby.

For my 9800gt, I just stuck with 186.18, just like you did (and am doing fine for my only game, CoD4).

Sorry, if this doesn't hep you a whole bunch. I'm just overjoyed my hardware workd properly now.

(and I have used 'just' too much).
 
182.50 worked very nicely with all the games I played. The latest series are more troublesome

the 186.18 drives are a complete joke.. tons of issues with a lot of games out there(and yes there are some games where the 186.18 drivers dont have issues).. out of the 180 series.. the 182.xx drivers are the best.. and i believe the 190.38 or higher are the better drivers out of the 190 series..

if you are using windows 7 you want to move to the 190.38 or higher drivers especially if you are using SLI since they support the multi GPU cuda in windows 7.. if you are on vista or xp the 182.xx drivers are the better choice since the 185.xx drivers have a weird lag issue when right clicking on the desktop or loading the nvidia control panel..

also if you are rolling back drivers.. make sure you completely uninstall the newer version or they will cause tons of problems.. especially rolling back from 186.18 to 182.50
