aiite, its been confirmed everyone who bought a DDL card has been extremely happy with their purchase.

in comparison to the a2zs

1) a single cable to the receiver
2) DDL encoding
3) some claim to have better bass and music sounds better

so the million dollar question is....... which one sounds better for music, the montego or the hda-m? or is it cause they both use the same chipset they should sound the same. or do the drivers affect muscial sound quality (ex. ppl claim that the different via-envy24 chipset sound cards all sound better than each other)

any comments would be greatly appreciated

Well, I own the Montego DDL and am very happy with it. A friend of mine purchased the HDA-Mystique a month back and seems happy with his, although he says he doesn't like the control panel that much. I love the Montego DDL because of it's simple interface, S/PDIF in and out, I'm tired of Creative driver bloat, I miss the Soundstorm, great sound quality, and it's twenty dollars cheaper than the HDA-Mystique.
 
they say the HDA is very similiar, but a higher quality parts version.

the only downside is the lack of 64bit drivers (because c-media stands for crack-media that is out of business).

however, HDA has said in some message boards ( i think planetamd64) that they HOPE to release new 64 ddl drivers in 2 weeks. in the meantime ddl only works in 32bit windows with HDA and i'm sure montego.

the HDA card also has an expasion board for more optical ins and outs, if your interested in that.

mine works great with my hda headphones and analog to tv setup. i'm waiting on my new apartment to switch to optical

Where do you guys hear this stuff. It's only been on the market for a matter of days. I have not noticed any lag on any games. I've tested it on FarCry, HL2, Doom3, Battlefield 2, GTA: San Adreas, UT2004, etc. Maybe on some systems it lags but I have noticed any lag on mine.

this is just a mis quote..

the "lag" that was of concern was using hte SPDIF-IN, there is apparently an issue where using hte SPDIF-IN , the sound will desync from the source essentially playing behind..


if anyone has the Montego DDL and can test it would probably shed more light on the situation..

Moot question isn't it?
If you are using the digital interface how would there be any difference?
 
Xeero you may want to email someone who has reviewed the HDA and see if you can get them to do the comparison between the 2 cards..

i double there are more than a handful of people who own both the Mystique and the Montego..

i would assume they sound the same, since they both use the Cmedia chipset for the DDL (has it been confirmed that these do not go through analogue processing prior to the DDL?)
 
oy quite a predicament.... i guess i'll just take the dive and get the montego, since its cheaper
