Ok so to help out with our "Executive Membership" and the fact that I need a new monitor ASAP, what would you get if you could get something from Costco (website or store).

Don't want to spend a mint but would rather spend a bit more money to get something good from them then spend it on a shitty cheaper monitor (hence why we are buying from costco).

These two look interesting so far...
Dell S2409W for $279
Alienware OptX AW2210 for $279
Viewsonic VX2433WM for $229

Mostly this will be used for web browsing, some photo editing, and maybe a bit of game playing once Diablo III, Starcraft II, or Aion come out....

(PLEASE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE DELL 2209WA AS COSTCO DOES NOT SELL IT)

special order the 2209wa

No point is spending MORE money for a lesser quality monitor.

I'm pretty sure even the S2409W is going for $70 cheaper than the Costco price. Check some of the deal sites. I know I've seen it around $200

One, Costco doesn't offer it and I don't believe that they offer any type of special order product service. Basically, if they don't offer it you can't buy it from them. So the point of suggesting it when I specifically said not to? I know it is a great monitor and would love to have one but I am looking for something the COSTCO OFFERS.

I know that you can find it cheaper elsewhere but with the cashback that we get with our executive membership it will be just as cheap as buying from one of the sites offer the discount. Believe me I have gone back and forth with this but basically the more we end up spending with Costco the more we will get back at the end of the year.

When we can still get monitors that are 16:10, I would take those over 16:9 anyday. Sadly, it looks like they will become extinct pretty soon as all the retailers are selling only 16:9.

As long as the photo editing isn't for professional work, the Dell S2409W should be a good choice.

Looking at their website I only see these two that have the 1920x1200 resolution available....
HannsG 28" HG-281DPB/236036 for $324.99
&
Vizio 26" VMM26F201 for $329.99

Do you think either of those would be THAT much better than the Dell S2409W??

Fortunately it is not, I am just an amateur (at best) photographer and dabble a little here and there.

Consider the Viewsonic VX2433WM 23.6" at Costco for $229.99. It's not 24" but, it's only .4" smaller and you can always return it to any Costco location if their are issues with it. It wouldn't hurt to try it out and see if you like it. If not, return it for a full refund. Here is a review of it.

I got the 24" 1920x1200 Samsung in my sig from Costco for $200, after an instant rebate... I think they were clearing that model out (hence the low price & rebate) but they replaced it with a bunch of 16:9 (1920x1080) models instead, which are even priced higher (ugh), or simply larger models like the 26" and 30" Vizios, I should've bought two when I got it, I figured I might get an IPS panel to go with it eventually (to replace my aging CRT) but I've been generally satisfied with this TN.

Quick question, does it have the "touch panel" buttons on it? I have those currently on my Westinghouse that is dying and I have experienced issues with it since the beginning and every time I try to use one at Costco (or elsewhere) with the same buttons I end up having issues. So I dislike those, but that will not keep me from buying a good monitor.

EDIT: Just went and looked at the Viewsonic and the Samsung 24"ers (had to fiddle with the PCs on the other side of the rack to finally get a display showing) and found that the Viewsonic seemed pretty good. However, the Samsung seemed a bit fuzzy but then again I was only able to produce 1680x1050 as that was the first resolution I could see. Anyways, I might go back this weekend without the wife and play with them a bit more. Would rather pick up something in store than order it that way if something is wrong then I don't have to go through the hassle of returning, reordering, etc.
