Molex connector issue - need help

I have a new Enermax MaxRevo 1350 and have trouble connecting the Molex cables to some Molex connectors. They simply do not want to fit on some parts. They fit fine on my one mobo connector, but the fan and hot swap drive bay does not.

I can fix it using either a Molex extender, with the plastic white plug, then connect it to the Enermax and it fits fine and works. Also, I can use Molex to SATA, but just wanted to find out why this didnt fit on some. Anyone have this happen before or on other power supplies and devices?

Sometimes you have to guide each pin or tube on the connectors individually so they'll meet dead-on instead of slightly to the side or at an angle. OTOH if the fit is tight, try prying open the tubes slightly (and slowly so they don't crack) by sticking very narrow jawed needle-nose pliers into them. I've more often had problems with the tubes working loose and having to be tightened.

Yeah, I always found the standard Molex drive power connectors a bit tough to align at times. The pins often have too much play in my experience and can fail to line up at times without wigging the individual wires as Larry mentioned. Personally, though, I have never had to open or tighten any of the pins themselves.

Both of these. On more than on occassion play got so bad the pins ceased staying in the plastic at all, and I resorted to manually plugging them into the PSU line.

I *hate* molex. Life would be easier if everything were PCIe or ATX/EPS style connectors.

Molex, Inc hate "molex" too. They long ago retired that old 4-pin connector model and invented the Sata connector and the small 3pin/4pin fan headers to replace them. (And not to forget the MiniFit Jr which is used in ATX/PCI/EPS). Problem was that other companies continued making clones of the old 4-pin "molex" and PSU companies kept including them, so customers keep using them. :(
