My understanding is that the newer Modxtreme Pro OCZ line as well as the Z series do not suffere the same ripple problems that the gamextreme built on FSP Epsilon does.. true? Did they never fix their Gamextreme line?

There was never any official or updated proper PSU review showing that OCZ actually updated their FSP GameXStream or StealthXStream PSU line to a version of the FSP Episilon that supposedly didn't have the ripple problem. So those OCZ PSUs are still on the avoid list.

The OCZ Z series are good quality PSUs but a tad overpriced. The OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W failed under 50C testing. But supposedly the OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W is an ok-ish PSU. Haven't heard too much about the StealthXStream II

The StealthXStream II line are newer Epsilons and they don't have ripple issues. They're still average group-regulated PSUs, but they aren't bad.

That's good to hear. Still wouldn't be at the top of my recommendations list but oh well.

I picked up a ModXtream pro 700w a couple weeks ago for $50. I didn't know there was every any issue with them, and a few hundred people on the newegg reviews gave them a thumbs up. I'll just hope I'm issue free, since $50 seemed like a steal.

For future reference, trust [H] reviews, not Newegg reviews.

I agree, especially since most Newegg reviews are from people who have nothing at all whatsoever (at least not in either this price class or in this wattage class) to compare that PSU with.

I defintely would have, but I never new about, or read the review. :(

It was a combo purchase with a 1055T, and on a really good deal. I took the gamble, and hope it pays off. My system is generally pretty cool, so hopefully I won't encoutner the Hot temps.
