I just got an OCZ ModXStreme Pro 700W (fantastic combo deal at Newegg with a Norco 4220 case, by the way - 15.00 shipped). This PSU uses modular cables, and it turns out that ideally I'd like more of the Molex connector-style cables than the PSU came with, in order to power the drive backplanes on the Norco without using splitters.

Does anyone know if these cables are generally compatible between manufacturers? I probably have a couple of spares from my Corsair 700HX that I could use. Alternatively, does anyone sell spare modular cables?

You don't need to use both plugs for each backplane as just a single plug will do. You should have at least five plugs on that power supply, so you won't need to buy any more cables. As for whether modular cables are universal, generally, no.

Yeah even PSUs from the same company don't have compatible modular cables most of the time.
