Hey all, though I'd post my old xbox up here. It's a Blue Halo 2 Xbox, Japanese version (Black Jewel), put in a 250GB drive, 128MBram (stock 64mb) and the CPU has been bumped up to 1.0GHZ from 733MHZ. Decided to put some copper sinks on the top ram chips and on the audio chip for alittle extra cooling and a kick ass look. Also put in an 80mm fan for alittle better flow, redid the thermal compound on the CPU and GPU sinks with AS5, helped alot on temps.Changed the front P/E button to white. Boots to the latest build of XBMC, all the new Emulators from ResXtras, tons of games.

did you put the ram in yourself? i wanted to upgrade the ram in mine but that is some tight sodering!!!!

No i had to send it off to some one to do it for me. Bummer too, i've wanted to try
it but i dont have boards or ram to kill. Would be fun to try though.

Ugh, if I see the inside of another Xbox1 it will be too soon. I used to be "the guy" in my circle of friends/family that did BIOS flashing and HDD upgrading. I lost count after 20 units modded.

me too. what a pain in the ass that was.

It does help with Arcade emulation, alot with N64, PSX and Linux.
Unfortunately XBMC does not take advantage of the extra ram but
oh well.

Sweet, my daughter has got the crystal one in her room now for xbmc, was thinking of toying around with SNES/Megadrive and Arcade. Anyone know any good sites to start? Preferably a graphical interface, summat that shows video clips of games before you load...if that's possible?

EDIT - think I've found it...resurrectionxtras?

There are a ton of options for Emulation. There are some good torrents floating around that are complete packages but they are all pretty big in size. If you're looking for video previews of each game that will require alot of space since there is an actual video for each game.
Do a search for CoinOP's (mame arcade), all the other emulators have recently been updated with an ungodly amount of options. Best place to start would be these two places.

Also 1Emulation.com is kinda the home for CoinOPs. If you need any help with it just let me know, i've been following all of the recent updates. Check out this video and see what you could have. Bigger hard drive recommended, 250GB I'd say.

I miss my old Xbox, I think my brother 'borrowed' it and I haven't seen it in years.

Cheers!

Got a 500Gb in it already I think, I already have a full sets of Mame,Snes and Megadrive (amongst a shitload of others) on my arcade cab with videos and boxart etc so was wondering if these emulators support these features off bat. Looks bang on :)

Im curious have you tried playing x.264 encoded video? The 700mhz processor couldnt handle it and I considered trying to stick a PIII 1ghz on there but never got any confirmation on if itd work.

@tigerblade-All of the updated emulators do boxart, preview videos, everything.
Your 500GB should be fine.

@piscian18- I dont know about h264 formatted movies. I got this done a year or so ago and now the guy that did it only does 1.4ghz boards now. Looks like h264 can play depending on the settings when it's encoded. Here is a short thread on it but there have been many other threads on it.

Also check XBMC.org or XBMC4XBOX.org, there have been topics on it.
It's pretty much not worth it, i would just use it for SD playback and us an HTPC
for HD playback

Sweet 'box. I've got one with a 400GB drive and slightly upgraded cooling that I enjoyed a lot. If you ever want to sell that thing, let me know. :)

I doubt i sell this one for a while since it's so rare but I do these mods on a regular basis, case mods and everything else for the original xbox, if your or anyone here ever wants one just shoot me a PM.
