1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
SC2, FFXIV and i'm a designer/developer as well.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$500 with leeway, tax and shipping can be more.
3) Where do you live?
PA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, Mobo, and RAM
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Corsair 750tx, Samsung F3 1tb x2, Radeon HD5850, Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-x, Lian Li PC60-b, Corsair h50
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
2x 21"
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
End of month
9) What features do you need in a motherboard?
RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
RAID, crossfire, esata
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

I've been slowly buying parts around the big combo and now i'm ready to finish it off. The 500 is flexible if it's worth adding more. I'd probably like at least 6gb of ram.

$330 - Intel Core i5 750 CPU + Asus P7P55D-E LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Motherboard
$95 - G.Skill Ripjaw Series F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL 2 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM
----
Total: $520 plus tax and shipping

Does that board support crossfire? Couldn't see it anywhere in the specs.

all p55 support crossfire by default

Although it would technically work it would be crippled by the 2nd card running at x4 on that board. Try to find one with a board that runs at x8 x8

Dont know how keen you are on having usb 3.0 & sata 3, but if you can live without them (since there basically fluff at this point anyhow)

240 EVGA P55 SLI 132-LF-E655-KR LGA1156 Intel P55 + G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
234 Intel Xeon X3440 Lynnfield 2.53GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core
474 Shipped

Should be more performance (that xeon is basically a i7-860, but clocked a little slower) & the ability to crossfire at a lower price point. You could also save a few bucks there & throw in the i5-750 instead, but I believe the extra $ for that xeon is well worth it.

Also there is a 40 MIR on that board.

bastage, are you sure that the EVGA board supports CrossFire? After taking a look at a few pages, I believe that it only supports SLI (which wouldn't help the OP has he has an HD 5850).

no EVGA board lists SLI support, but they do infact support it. They just wont list it due to there relationship with nVidia

Diggin the board, USB3 and sata3 aren't essential to me, so that works fine. How long do these combo deals usually last?

Will likely go i5 just because i'm not that familiar with the Xeon.

Thanks for both of the builds.

you should check it out still... Basically everything that makes an i7 better then an i5 that xeon has (including hyper threading). Just like I said at a slightly lower clock speed. Either way though it would end up as a good build for you

Websites/webapp. Photoshop, dreamweaver, visual studio etc.

I'm going to look into it a little more, before I order at the end of the month. Thanks again. :D
