Alright so I got a few questions.

First off I am getting 2 x 1GB kit of Buffalo Firestix for my b-day.
I am going to order another set myself.
However, these are back ordered for 4 weeks so I will get them in April.

So my first question is with Intel's price drops coming in a month, will AMD respond with price drops of their own?

The reason I ask is bc I need to get something cheap (a CPU/Mobo) until Q3 when AMD releases Barcelona for desktops.
The mobo must be able to have 4 slots for memory, a PCI-Express slot (x16) and 2 IDE slots.

I guess I don't understand why you are waiting for Buffalo memory. Does the place you ordered from have memory they could ship more timely that is not Buffalo?
 
The Buffalo Firestix DDR2-800 RAM has been on back order for a while now.
Its bc they have Micron D9 chips in them and they are $189.99 for a 2GB set.

Everyone hit this deal up hard and bc of that Buffalo has on their shop (which is the only place you can get it now since newegg has been out of stock for 2 weeks), that it will take 2-4 weeks to get bc of the high demand.

Therefore, I am guessing it will take approx. weeks to get bc of this.
Now for the rest of the story.
I am going to either get a Barcelona (AMD) or one of the new C2Ds due out in Q3.
However, I want to run this RAM on a new build and all I need is a cheap CPU/Mobo to hold me out for 4-5 months. Either AM2 or C2D whichever is cheaper.
 
Get a 3800 Windsor at the Egg and a cheapo MB, $50 or whatever to get ou thru the summer, looks like you even get a free gift (wow)

Or the 3600+ Brisbane combo...board and CPU for under $150.
