Mobile Phone for Europe?

Hi guys, want to get your thoughts on a couple things.

Looks like I have a couple potential trips to Europe this coming year, Italy and the UK to be exact. I'd like to be able to make local calls, and have a data plan for internets. I don't need a ton of data, I barely use the 200mb allocation I have now.

So I have two questions.

1) What should I do about a phone? I know it needs to be sim unlocked and be GSM in the proper band. I have my old iPhone 3 I can unlock and jailbreak in two seconds. Or would it be worth it to pick up something else?

2) Are any of these sim card dealers online ok? Ebay? I've read it can be ok to just get to where your going and buy a sim card locally.

Anything else I should be thinking about?

Thanks bros.

Your iPhone3 should be enough. And buying your sim locally is the best&cheap thing to do.

what phelie said

unlock phone, buy sim when you are there, call it a day. My HD2 is unlocked and I take it to the 'Nam every time I go and never have problems and since their 3G is on the same frequency as T-Mobile, I get that too :)
