can i have a SATA as a main drive which has all my programs and etc

and an IDE to serve as just storage? (pics/music etc)

is this possible?

You set up the IDE like you always would. SATA doesn't requrie jumpers (except to switch SATA150 and SATA300 modes), so just plug it in and make sure the SATA controller is enabled in the BIOS.

got everything installed and working.

if anyone has questions regarding this topic, feel free to ask me =]

it is not hard, but you have to get comfortable playing in the BIOS.

The default bios settings sometimes are not good enough if you want to run your SATA as RAID.

XP will install to SATA as a boot drive, but it takes some work ---- pressing F6, I think, during the install process to install special drivers.

But Vista will install without any special settings to a SATA hard drive.

You can always install to IDE without any issues. But no RAID on IDE.
