I had this on my previous desktop:

X-Fi_VolumePanel.jpg

I went through the same installation process w/my new setup and now there's no volume panel. Can anyone guess what's wrong?

Thanks!

Just extract that zip file and run the setup.

If you used the CD's that came with the card, it should be there if you did a full install.

Look in your startmenu in All Programs\Creative\Sound Blaster X-Fi\Volume Panel, it should be there.

When you do the installation, if you select "custom installation", volume panel, for reasons unknown to normal people, is not selected for install. You can pop the CD back in and run through the installation process again, go to "custom installation", and select only the volume panel and install that. Worked for me after I figured it out.
