Ok so i just got mirrors edge and every time i try and start a new game it either crashes during the intro movie or some point while i am in training. not only does the game lock up but my entire computer.

i am completely stumped on this on.
 
ok so i got the game to work without crashing. but now it will quit out to the main menu in the middle of a level
 
Try a different video driver.

Check your machine for stability.
Monitor gfx card, motherboard, memory and CPU temps.
 
As a previous poster said-- have you patched? If I recall right there was a bug in the initial release that would cause it to crash at load screens/right before.
 
I had a problem like this on my niece's PC, we had to run it in Win 2000 compatibility mode to get it running (on XP)
