Picked up a Sugo case with 300W psu. The Asus Atom 330 ION board I got says it needs a 400W psu but is running fine with the 300 so far. Just to figure out prices I started looking for a replacement psu but I cant find any mini ITX power supplies other then ac/dc adapters etc. Where can I get a repacement PSU if this needs more power or happens to take a crap on me?
 
Haha, it really says it needs 400W? Some funny stuff. An Atom platform with a 2.5" HDD and a slim optical drive won't exceed 40W under heavy load (usually doesn't go over 30W from what I've seen). If anything, look for a less powerful PSU... you'll be using much more energy than you should because a high-power PSU simply isn't efficient at such low power loads. For comparison, take a look at a system such as the ASRock Ion 330, you'll notice it comes with a 65W power source.

Zotac makes an identical board with the PSU built in. I think it's a 100 watt (from memory). Regardless, that board won't even make the Sugo PSU warm.
 
Zotac's is 90W to be exact. But indeed, can't but wonder what sort of an oversight that kind of a recommendation is.
 
Actually you could fit a Zotac 9300, a Q9550 and a HD 4850 in it, they selected the PSU with those parts in mind :)
 
There's no way it needs 400W, I'm running a slightly OCed Q9400, a Zotac 9300, and 2 HDDs on the stock 300w PSU without a problem, and I'm going to be picking up a new video card soon.
 
Yeah, ya know I was kinda wondering the same thing my self.. but I sh!t you guys not the manual says 400W psu requirement. I was looking at all the ITX cases with PSU's thinking are they serious? System is running good no stability issues. Little bummed about cpu performance 3.3 on Win7 but guess thats as good as it gets. My netbook single core gets like a 2.3 on win7. What shocked me was the 5.3 rating on gaming graphics. System still feels a little sluggish to me but going form my rig to it I guess that's normal. Ill ignore the PSU requirements. I had a feeling they weren't right.
 
The Windows Experience Index scores are a bit all over the place. My current HD 4670 gets better scores in it than my previous 8800 GT did, despite 8800 GT being much faster. Nor did the Q6600 get much more of a score than the current E5200. Go figure!
 
WTF the atom 330 used about 36Watts max. You don't need a 400 watt power supply that is retarted.
 
My Desktop computer doesn't use 400W at max load with a Quad Processor and Geforce 260 GTX!
 
It might not be mini-ITX but it looks like SFX PSU. Ultra X2 400W Modular PSU. It is small. The modular thing is good in Sugo SG05 me thinks.
 
You could use the picoPSU for the motherboard and CPU and other peripherals while using the stock psu for the GPU.
 
the larger sized psu's are recommended for more amperage on the rails. its may only draw 200 watts total but a 200w supply cant supply the 12+ amperage that's needed. psu are rated for total wattage on all rails.
