Millenium Falcon mod is STOLEN!!!

Sucks to hear that, it was a great mod. :(

Take the money, get the bike, spend time with your wife. Enjoy life.

I would take the money and spend it on the bike. If you have pics of it scattered across the web then it's bound to turn up sooner or later. Who knows, you may get it back and get to keep the compensation from Microsoft.

I'd suggest getting the bike as well. If you're into that thing, and you find one you like, just see if MS will buy the bike as a replacement.

This way you might be able to get something that'll bring you closer to your wife, and in the end bring you more joy, and at the same time it'll be better than a few grand in comp parts that'll soon be dated. Then, when you're over the loss, I'd say try again and make something better. Honestly, that other guy's idea to make a Star Destroyer to hunt down the criminal would be funny as shit, and it too might relieve some of your pain at losing all that work and creativity.

Well, I got the money from Microsoft - at least they came through with that, and rather quickly too (even had Saturday delivery of the check). In the end, most of it went towards this:

So now, my wife and I can do some riding together...

Keep an eye out for my next mod, it should be done in about 1 month - a mini-itx based chopper (not related to this bike, or this mod, other than the fact that I'm still modding).

Nice... going to cruise the Lawrence Exp Way on your new machine?? heh... people drive so fast on that road... whew... :)

Most of you probably remember my Millenium Falcon mod..... Yes, the mod (computer, keyboard, mouse, and one copy of my book) were stolen from the Microsoft campus. Security has been going through video tapes, but so far no leads.
Hey Russ. It's been a while since we did Going Mod- hope all is well. Boy thats really a bummer, but take the cash from MS and do what the other guy said! Get a bike and spend some time with the wife. Lord knows I hardly spend time with mine :)
Maybe we will be seeing the Falcon again someday, or someone who comes in here will fess up to a buddy who now has possesion. Hope there wasn't anything crucial on it data-wise....
Later,
Will Shaw
AKA ZeusEnergy

PS... I still have a copy of the book, na- nana-na na-na! :D

I'd submit your stolen-case story to slashdot.org... they'd definitely make an article out of it.

Then you'd have half the geeks on the 'net searching for it.

Good idea, I wouldn't be suprised if they did find it to, down to the guys address.

Then they would have already gone to his house and raided it, proclaiming "Pwn3d!" to all who would listen as they held the reclaimed mod high in the air before returning it to its rightful owner, and there was much rejoicing. :D

Thanks for the offer... I was kinda staying quiet until I got the cash - but now that I have it, I say GO FOR IT! SUBMIT EARLY, SUBMIT OFTEN!

so how much did they end up giving you? it had to be a pretty good amount since you bought that bike with it, and had some left over!

Sorry to hear about the theft man. :(

But on a brighter note...go get yourself a bike!! I've wanted a ZX-6R for the longest time -- you can make me feel slightly better (and more motivated to work harder) by getting one before me!

seriously, it sucks that you dont have it anymore. but just consider it a job well done and move on. get the bike and go riding with your wife, or start on a new project. maybe a deathstar computer, or a starship enterprise :D
