i keep hearing about midnight freak and relic and wondering who they are? cause i haven't seem them around since i started some time around march? midnight freak is still the top pts produced but he hasn't turned much in in a while? and relic:) i just read his post on mojo OMG that was funny! just curious thanks

I'm kinda new but I think they were some of the leaders of the team not only in points but also in the forums. Everything of their's I've read has been great. I would love to have them back on the team, but there's a lot of the story I don't know.

Fold on fellas!

Both were corporate folders. Not sure if they quit working for their respective companies or what, but a few folks here like to believe that MF will re-emerge from his slumber once someone passes him. (wishfull thinking, right?)

They are a couple of great guys that are like the "founding fathers" of the team and always looked up to, although they are not with us for whatever reasons, they will always be welcome back when they decide the time is right to power up... But until then we are holding our own without them against OCAU, and getting a ton of valuable work done for Stanford, and in the end thats what really matters :)

All of you new guys (I still feel new as well ;) ) are helping this team stay alive, so dont let anyone make you think otherwise..

:)

Just to keep things in perspective

All relic's points in F@H are were and are from a home farm. He has been busy on other projects and doesn't come to the forum much if at all any more but he was in fact one of the most active and definitely the top spiritual leader of the team His poetry and stories were matchless, and thankfully timeless.

MF was never a 'founding father", he came in later in the project with a lot of machines and obviously produced a ton of points. There were a few other very high producers before him what were also forced to quit for various reasons

relic may not be active in the forum, but his numbers speak for themselves ;)

Ahh (still new, dont know all the stories) but it seems as if he is one, at least in legend now ;)

maybe they wanted to see if we could kick OCAU on our own;) cause here we come hehe

More perspective and a bit-0-history, just for fun.

Way back in the day we had a, no, THE TOP folder here at the [H]. ID01. He blew by everyone like the rest of the world was standing still. You can find him on page three of HardFolding.com at rank “534” with a whopping 48,280 points. You will also notice he has 19,720 work units as well. Do the math, back in those days there were no “High Point” work units, you could fold on one machine for a few days and get a whole 10 points on a Good One” and add one work unit to your production.

When ID01 finally had to shut down there was talk we could never catch OCAU again. Of course that was not the case.

Back then we all strived to catch ID01; he had an Internet café and was one of our original corp. folders so to speak. "The man to catch"

Certainly a lot has changed over the years but our team goes on no matter what. No one person will ever make or break a team, we all do this together.

We lose a big guy? We get a bunch of small guys, that’s the way the team works.

Fold on folk, it’s all good. :D

Another thing to look at is ID01 came back to lend a hand, for reasons that are his own......but I like to think it was due to recruitment!

LETS HEAR IT FOR FRONT PAGE PIMPAGE!!!!! :D

I'm not sure where it has gotten off to, but there used to be a [H]ardFolding [H]istory section of the web site. It doesn't seem to be there, but I'm sure it's still around somewhere. EM has been around in one form or another for over 4 years now. Much "Mojo" has flowed under the bridge here, but the [H]orde is still going strong. There's a lot of work yet to do and there will always be someone around that will remember where the "stories are buried" ... there are a bunch of them... and don't forget that it's fun to make some new stories for telling the newbies a couple of years from now... Keep on Folding! :D

Since we've mentioned a couple of the big guys that got us started, let's not forget OneNutt and Dink - they were big at one time. If I'm not mistaken, Larry (LPerry) was our uber-God when it came to Genome time. I can't remember the details (and don't remember if he even told us about them) of how many PCs he had access to or how he did it, but some of his Elep[H]ant dumps were just insane. Let's keep the stories flowing - history was meant to be added to!

maybe it is time for someone tostep out of the ranks and grow to be a legand like these guys....

<goes to find more borgs>

I remember when some of the dumps came in and other teams still freaked out even though they were expecting it. It had a tendancy to be bigger than most people were expecting. I only had one system to contribute at the time and one borg. I will say being able to "dump" came in very handy when I lost broadband and got stuck back in dial up for a while.

In comparison to many, I am a relatively new member. In my time on this team, I have become sure of one thing, [H] DC is in a constant state of change. When I joined the team, many of the current members were unheard of. But time has passed, the regime I once knew has moved on, and a new one put in its place. Its the way it always has been, the way it always will be.

Relic was one of many that time and tales will be fond of. He is one of many members of yesteryear that did not know they would take on a fame, an underground following. But they did. Who knows, in a few years time, those names we take for granted now might end up in a thread just like this. Old folders who are only remembered by their contribution to the project, and the future "old timers".

Relic has moved on, as have many members, but they'll always have a place here if they decide to return.

This has made me think. Last year my school updated 3 of the computer labs with brand new P4s. I believe the count is somewhere near 80 or 90 in the range of 2.4s to 3.0s, which exactly I am unsure. There is a fourth lab of 900MHz as well. Due to the policy of the admin at the time, I was unable to borg them. Supposedly he was not offered a job in the school this year. Depending on who they hire, I may be able to get them folding for the [H]. School starts in a few weeks, I shall have to think more of it and devise a plan.

Dillusions of grandeur, perhaps.

Lol, please take no offence but when you say “relic has moved on” I hope your talking about his stats. He’s number 10 on the team, a home farmer and moving up fast. He many not be vocal at the moment but his points speak for his dedication.

I’d like to think that there is no “old guard” or “new guard”, just a bunch of good people trying to come together to do their best.

Lot’s of us “old guys” still around pumping points, soon, some of you will be old guys too (happens faster then you think) ;)

of course some people might not ever move past the rank of newbie :) at least mentally

The thing about the [H]orde, is that you can checkout but you can never leave. I am actually on the first page of the [H]ard [H]istory page for reaching 1000 w/u. After I graduated college, I had some life issues I had to attend to. Finding a job, moving, all kinds of stuff, but about a year ago, I came back. I don't have a corporate farm, but I am still putting up decent numbers, 2500-3000 points a day.

I have a feeling Relic will be back, he at the very heart of the team. I came back to folding and he pretty much started the whole parts swap idea. He found a box of CPU's and sent me two Tbirds that are still folding to this day.

He will always have a home here.

In case no one noticed, the [H]orde currently has the Blue Line!
Over the past week relic has pumped out over 19,000 points (not bad for a guy that has gone missing in the forums) ;)

Pump up the volume! :D

Lperry, This is why that raffle of yours should be for the [H]orde only :D (just kidding)

I think that Relic thrives off the hum of his boxen.... he may be too busy to be on the forum, but his boxen are still running...

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

Well, you did win the last one... this new one is even faster.

If there is anyone in the world that knows what relic is doing, that would be me.

Since I do have his phone number, I have yet to call him. But since I was a dweebe and forgot my cell phone today I cannot call him till tomorrow.

Last I heard of him, he was busy with pc work and working on a local church.
I met relic about six months ago, very nice guy, I wish to meet up with him again really soon.

Until We hear from Relic again on the forums, I will try to get news of what Relic is doing.

Wow, I come back to the forums and find that people are wondering who relic is

Looks like we have tons of new guys I have to meet

Hi everyone who doesn't know me
I've been on the team for a while, (although not nearly as long as relic) but I haven't been posting on the forums much lately. I'll try to fix that in the upcoming months

That's for sure!

When Relic comes back, I will give him the Mod. job back if he wants it.

He sure did a good job. :)
