Shh, it's just a user name. M-Kay?

I'd be more excited to hear Microsoft launching a feature like a search bar which helps me find files locally on my PC instead of opening a browser and sending me over to Bing, which naturally is no better at finding a local file than it is at finding anything useful on the internet.

I'd be happier even if searching from within a File Explorer window worked with a damn. Everything Search finds shit instantly, why can't the damned built-in search?

In Windows 11 when you open Image Viewer for the first time now it tries to shove the AI assistant down your throat too. Its drives me nuts.
Is there any way to rip all of this AI crap out of windows without breaking it? I really don't want to switch to 11...

Pretty sure Chris Titus has that covered.
Cool I'll look him up, I have to rip the band-aid off soon. My initial instinct is just doing a fresh install and getting everything configured the way I want. I hate MS so much, I really hope Unity and Unreal support gets better for Linux so I can leave.

He hasn't really done Windows debloat guides in a long time since he moved to Linux fully, but these days suggests an app called MicroWin. It's built into his free open-source swiss army knife toolkit called WinUtil https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/winutil.

He used to use MSMG Toolkit to de-bloat Windows, which is what I've used since 2015.

There are youtube guides for both programs and ChatGPT/Claude can also walk you through the steps to make your own custom Windows ISO.

I'm just assuming that using any product with Co-Pilot support means you have to sign a EULA which states that Microsoft aquires the right to train their AI on anything you create using these tools?

I tried using Unity on Linux for like 4-5 months and switched back. It just doesn't work well at all. I work in Unity 8-12 hours a day, I can't go to Linux until Unity support is much, much better.

Unity is a gui thing? The point of linux, for me and probably most linux users, is the command line.

The game engine yeah, it just crashes constantly and the GUI for it is always screwed up when I use linux. It's also far less stable, it's pretty obvious Unity doesn't care about Linux support yet.

Oh duh...i am le dumb...i have been debugging Dockerfiles for 2 days and i can't think.

I think UE runs well in Linux. We use it a lot and i haven't heard any complaints?

UE isn't my main concern at the moment, I'm writing software for a TTRPG my client paid me to write for a Unity project (I wouldn't do a phone and tablet based tool that needs to be deployed as an app with game mechanics outside of unity personally). The thing unity does best is seamlessly deploying to multiple platforms. I think we'll likely release a desktop version at some point for GMs to write things out with a mouse and keyboard. All of the data syncs across any platform so it's a really good use case. Even the 3D mobile / xbox game I'm working on is in Unity because of the deployment tooling. If I were just in unreal maybe I could switch, but at the moment there's no way.

my only use case for AI (well at least LLMs) so far has been to simplify vast amounts of information or help with brain storming.
