MicroSDHC + Adapter Question

Has anyone had success with using an adapter and a microSD card in their cameras? I'm wondering if there would be any performance degradation.

I have a 16gb MicroSDHC class 6 card that I'd like to use in a Coolpix P100 to shoot 1080p HD video, but the camera only supports standard sized SD cards and it's recommended to have a class 6 card to shoot HD video. I have a couple of these adapters lying around, but haven't purchased the camera yet.

Adapter looks something like this: http://www.greenlyph.com/new/images/Kingston_micro_SD_2G.jpg

TIA!

Kindof sounds like you're doing this backwards - you should pick out the camera you want based on the image quality and other camera-features, and then get a card that works with the camera - don't go looking for a camera to fit the card you already have.

I can't imagine the adapter would help performance any, but you might as well try it out and see how it works once you have the camera. I'm thinking for HD video, you might want more than a class-6 card anyways - you might be limited to a few seconds of video at a time with a card that only meets the minimum requirement.

Oh no, I've been doing research on such point-and-shoots all morning and have it narrowed down to the Nikon P100 or Sony DSC-HX1. So far the edge is going to the Nikon and it's just an added bonus if it also works with the class 6 MicroSDHC card that I already have.

Hmm yeah, a few seconds would be no bueno. Might as well try it first though, thanks!

Ended up going with a Fujifilm HS10 and an actual 8GB SDHC class 10 card. Does just about everything the coolpix p100 does but also shoots in RAW. I'll just keep my current 16gb class 6 in my phone.
