Microphone.... Regular Analog or USB?

I am in the market to get a new Microphone.... I want something real good, I dont know if I should get a standard analog one that plugs into my sound card or a USB one.... I want something that is going to have superb sound quality and as clear as possible.
 
just be aware that when you use a USB device, it essentially becomes a secondary device.. when you use just an addon mic for your soundcard it is still just your soundcard that you are using..


if its just for chatting be aware that some programs may have issues with it and just because it is USB doesn't necissarily mean it is high quality..

a high quality addon mic to a high quality soundcard is the same as a high quality USB mic.
 
My personal preference would be to go with the analog mic. Assuming you have a decent sound card, you should be able to get a better analog mic at a lower cost than a good usb mic.
 
I've done some research on this recently, I'm in the same boat as you. I just purchased the Sennheiser PC 150 from NewEgg. They even have a sale on it today and tomorrow. All the reviews I read, I never read that the USB connection sounded better than the analog one. Plus the analog is less than half the price of the Sennheiser PC 155 USB. I wouldn't buy any of the Logitech headsets, the reviews I read on those weren't too great.
